Pretty Little Liars returns in just a few short days and I am very excited about it. If you don’t know already (Seriously? You should be watching!), the show centers around four girls who are trying to solve the mystery of their best friend who went missing. The show tackles a few controversial subjects (a murdered friend for instance) and one of my favorite “scandals” is the relationship between Aria and her teacher, Mr. Fitz. They got together before she was aware of his profession, and as taboo as it might be, I (and many others) found myself really rooting for this relationship. There’s something about it that is so sweet and innocent that makes you forget about the rather minimal age difference and the fact that he’s her teacher. I recently had the chance to visit the set of Pretty Little Liars, where I chatted with everyone’s favorite teacher Mr. (Ezra) Fitz about the complexities and innocence of the Aria/Fitz relationship, the big premiere and whether he might be tempted by someone his own age.

The Pretty Little Liars mid-season premiere is just days away, and I am beyond excited. This ABC Family show based on the book series took the TV world by storm, and exceeded even my lofty expectations. The show centers around a group of friends in a perfect looking suburban town whose best friend Alison DiLaurentis goes missing and they grow apart. Years later, they are forced to reunite and try to solve the mystery of their presumably dead friend. I recently had the chance to visit the fictional town of Rosewood (aka the Pretty Little Liars set), and caught up with the actress behind everyone’s favorite “dead?” girl. Sasha Pieterse talked about Alison’s role in shaping the little liars, what challenges her, and what we might see coming up in the second half of the season.

As the year comes to a close, I thought it would be a nice time to highlight what I have loved on TV this year. Because this year encapsulates more than a season of TV (and because I watch a ton of TV) there’s a lot that I loved this year. There are a couple of new shows, some old favorites, and some that may not be around anymore (or may not be on for much of 2011). In the spirit of the Holidays, I am excited to offer this great giveaway courtesy of Warner Brothers. For those who may not know, V is a re-boot of the 1983 miniseries of the same name. This new series is about the arrival on Earth of an advanced alien species who says they come in peace, but are covering up a grander mission. With the Vs comes chaos and The Fifth Column who wants to take them down. V stars Morena Baccarin, Morris Chestnut, Elizabeth Mitchell, Laura Vandervoort and Scott Wolf. The show returns to ABC on January 4th at 9 pm and if last season was any indication, this one is going to be quite good. It’s Holiday time here at The TV Chick, and in the spirit of the Holidays, I’m going to have some great giveaways coming up. The first is this fantastic Blu-Ray DVD set, courtesy of Warner Brothers. “By the Light of the Moon” is our last new episode of The Vampire Diaries until 2011, so I hope you enjoyed it people!

We start with Tyler calling Hot Uncle Mason on his land line because his cell voicemail has filled up. But, you know, he’s dead and stuff. However, there’s a blond lady there who is listening; she is kind of fake looking, and I’m not feeling it.

Over at the Gilbert residence, Jeremy and Bonnie are keeping Elena busy (trapped with Bonnie’s magic) so that she can cool it with the kamikaze missions. They also test her to see if she’ll take the moonstone (she does). So, they’re feeling pretty smug and justified right now.

Our favorite vampires are on hiatus, but that doesn’t mean we have to live without The Vampire Diaries. In a great move by the CW, the network is marathoning the past 10 episodes from this season starting tonight. The show doesn’t return until January 27th, so this marathon should tide us over rather well. Also, be sure to look out soon for a TON of exclusive interviews from the set.

Apparently, there are only two more episodes of “Life Unexpected.” Ever. This fact makes me beyond sad. Last night’s episode “Stand Taken” was one of the most emotionally resonant episodes of the entire series. It centered around Lux’s past as she finally comes clean about what actually happened between her and her former foster dad Trey. It was disturbing, heartbreaking, heartwarming and absolutely amazing. I have said all along that Lux is the way she is for a reason; her actions are not just because she’s a bad friend or a typical teenager or rebellious. She has had a horrible upbringing and the only saving grace is that she has now found her real family: one that will treat her with respect and dignity and more importantly one that isn’t going anywhere.

It’s “A Very Glee Christmas” and as far as Christmas episodes go, I enjoyed this one. There was a good message, a sweet story (Brittany still believes in Santa!) and a lot of the amazing Dot Marie Jones (Coach Beiste). This Jew enjoyed most of the Christmas songs and the overall plot. There was more music than the past few episodes but I feel like they went back to what makes them successful in terms of musical numbers: Rachel belting it out, maybe a Finn/Rachel duet and a couple of numbers with the whole Glee club. I think we all agree going back to what made us fall in love with the show is necessary and I thought this episode was a good start. This is not to say that I don’t enjoy every episode, and that I think that Darren Criss is a gift sent from Moses above, but I just like when they focus in on the tangible instead of the visceral.
