EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Marlene King (Creator/Executive Producer) of Pretty Little Liars

February 28th, 2011

PrettyLittleLiarsIntertitle

Pretty Little Liars won me over as a young adult book series and it won me over again as a television series for ABC Family. It is full of shocking twists and turns, many surprises (even for book fans) and of course, that pesky A. But no one knows the show’s secrets like the creator Marlene King. She even knows who A is, but of course, she’s not telling. However, when I had the chance to chat with her, she told me a lot of good stuff. The rest of the season is filled with jump-off-your-couch-oh-my-God moments, interesting developments for each of the character’s love lives and family lives, and of course, the mystery of who killed Alison. She talks about all of this and so much more, and after speaking with Marlene, I am even more excited for the rest of the season than I was before.

REVIEW: The Vampire Diaries “The House Guest”

February 25th, 2011

The House Guest

E back again for your last The Vampire Diaries recap until April! We’ve had quite the February sweeps, and “The House Guest” definitely was an interesting end cap to what’s happened so far in Season 2.

We kick things off with Elena and Stefan getting ready for school and engaging in some last minute making out. (Seriously Aunt Jenna? Your teenage niece should be sleeping at home). Damon is downstairs and Katherine is still there. Stefan comes down and is confused. They don’t know who is who. There’s some choking of the real Elena. You know, your basic Parent Trap shenanigans. In any case, Katherine wants to join the kill Klaus faction.

REVIEW: Glee “Blame It On the Alcohol”

February 23rd, 2011

GLEE-Blame-It-on-the-Alcohol

Thanks to last night’s episode of Glee, I now have “Blame It On The Alcohol” stuck in my head. Not to mention some Ke (dollar sign) ha. There was a lot of criticism of this episode, but honestly, I found it a lot better and less disappointing than last week’s. I wasn’t a huge fan of what went on with Schue and Beiste (obviously more on that later) but I was so happy Emma was back (come on, I started to doubt she might ever be back!) and there were some knockout-listen-to-on-my-iPod-on-repeat performances.

REVIEW: Pretty Little Liars “The Badass Seed”

February 22nd, 2011

PRETTY-LITTLE-LIARS-The-Badass-Seed-Episode-18-4

I returned from a wonderful vacation super late last night so I had to forgo watching Pretty Little Liars until this morning, but I was so happy when I did. The show continues to throw curve balls and twists and turns around every corner that not even the most loyal book fans could see coming. “The Badass Seed” was no exception. There were some changes/bumps in the road for Aria and Ezra (NOO!), the girls get faked out by A (shocker!) and Hanna’s love life takes a turn we all kind of saw coming.

REALITY CORNER: The Bachelor Recap – Week 8

February 22nd, 2011

shawntel-brad-embalming1

On the episode’s first hometown date, Brad travels to Chantal’s grandiose mcmansion in Seattle. He is introduced to the O’Brien parents – a baby boomer version of Barbie and Ken – who don perfectly coordinated outfits and eyeshadow. Brad and Chantal’s father share a bonding moment over masonry, as they chat in front of a massive, obnoxious sculpture that Mr. O’Brien calls the “self-made man statue.” He gives Brad his blessing to propose to Chantal.

REVIEW: The Vampire Diaries “The Dinner Party”

February 18th, 2011

E back again for another look at what’s going in Mystic Falls. And boy did we have some action on [the-vampires-diaries] this week with “The Dinner Party.”

We start out still at the cabin (shouldn’t they have come home by now? weird) with Elena reading the not really lost Jonathan Gilbert diaries. The Gilbert of yesteryear is having a little dinner party himself when he and his posse hear some noise outside. His friend goes to check and Jonathan goes after him. He uses his little vamp compass to prove that they’ve all left town, but alas, they have not. Stefan comes and does some old-fashioned feeding. The rest of the entry references him dying here, but he clearly didn’t die because you know, he wrote the diary entry. Meanwhile, Stefan and Damon are chitchatting on their cell phones about how it’s awesome Tyler left town and that the killing is about to go down (hey, that rhymes!).

INTERVIEW: Steven R. McQueen (Jeremy Gilbert) from The Vampire Diaries

February 17th, 2011

The Return

Last week’s episode of The Vampire Diaries featured a big moment for Jeremy. He finally kisses Bonnie, and the moment was rather perfect as Jeremy decided to just throw caution to the wind and kiss her. This season Jeremy has also taken on a bigger role and assumed some responsibility for protecting his sister (Elena) as well as getting involved with the vampires to try and protect Mystic Falls. I recently had the chance to chat with Steven R. McQueen (who plays Jeremy) about the kiss (and its aftermath), John Gilbert, and his family history.

INTERVIEW: Ksenia Solo from Life Unexpected, Black Swan and Guest Star Irina on Nikita

February 17th, 2011

Everyone knows of my love for Life Unexpected and my sadness at its early cancelation. But I am a fan of all things CW, and have really been enjoying Nikita. So I was excited at the chance to chat with Ksenia Solo, who played Tasha on Life Unexpected and will play Irina, an old friend of Alex’s, on tonight’s episode of Nikita. Ksenia’s career is not just all about TV though. She got to fulfill a lifelong dream recently to be in a ballet film and work with Darren Aronofsky. I am of course talking about “Black Swan,” where she starred alongside Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis. She also has been traveling the word to attend all of the premieres. Ksenia and I talked about her role on Nikita, her time on Life Unexpected (and what she wished for Tasha, had the show gone on longer), and her dream-come-true experience on “Black Swan.”

REVIEW: Pretty Little Liars “The New Normal”

February 16th, 2011

PRETTY LITTLE LIARS The New Normal Episode 17

This TV Chick is on vacation, but I could never take a vacation from Pretty Little Liars. I was actually on set watching the filming of this episode, and it was great to see it come to life. “The New Normal” had a lot of interesting developments, and I loved that it actually didn’t involve too much of that pesky/bitchy A. A always has a hold over the girls but this episode focused more on solving the killer mystery and figuring out what Jenna was up to than making the girls do awful things so that their secrets won’t be revealed.
