REALITY CORNER: Q&A: Contestants from The Voice (Javier, Beverly, Tyler and Nakia) Prepare for the Battle Round

I gave up on Idol years ago, so when The Voice came along, I was unsure how to feel about it. I’ll tell you this: I was completely surprised by just how much I loved it. Seriously, it’s pretty fantastic. So when the opportunity arose for a media call with some of the contestants, I knew my resident reality guru Lindsey would jump at the chance. Check it out!

The so-called “Battle Round” episode of NBC’s The Voice is upon us, and tonight will inevitably be the night that determines whether or not the show will actually give Idol a run for it’s money. Now that the “blind audition” aspect is over (which is coincidentally the entire premise of the show), will The Voice have legs to stand on? Over the last two weeks, we’ve watched a country star, a lady-crazy one-hit-wonder, a Dolly Parton impersonator (Ed. Note: HA!) and the hottest man in the world (Ed. Note: Good call) duke it out over contestants to join their respective teams. We had the chance to talk to one contestant from each team about how they’re handling the pressure going into tonight’s Battle Round. We learned a lot of interesting things – like Beverly’s addiction to Mountain Dew and why Nakia chose a Cee Lo song – so read on to find out more!

REVIEW: Make It Or Break It “To Thine Own Self Be True”

May 10th, 2011

MAKE-IT-OR-BREAK-IT-To-Thine-Own-Self-Be-True-2

Last night’s episode of Make It Or Break It “To Thine Own Self Be True” featured some big breakthroughs (mentally, emotionally and physically) for a few characters. There was a good amount of gymnastics (which I love) and the Lauren craziness was minimal (although she is still super manipulative and ridiculous). I really liked the title of this episode, because it was very fitting. Each character struggles with being true to themselves and I think that’s something we all struggle with. Whoa, just got deep over an episode of Make It Or Break It, guys. Serious stuff. It also felt kind of weird without Emily. I’m sure she’ll be back on the show by finale time.

E back again, and seriously guys, last night’s episode of The Vampire Diaries, “The Sun Also Rises” was magnificent.  Whenever the official body count is 4 peeps, you know it’s going to be serious business.

We start with Caroline and Matt still trying to keep Tyler out of where they are.  Matt totally shoots him like a boss! He’s not dead, just down for a bit.  Caroline then takes Matt’s hand and does some fancy vampire moving fast out of there stuff.

INTERVIEW: Joseph Morgan (Klaus) from The Vampire Diaries

May 5th, 2011

Klaus

Tonight’s the night. The big sacrifice is due to happen tonight in Mystic Falls, and I know I am waiting with baited breath. Will people/vampires/werewolves be sacrificed on tonight’s episode of The Vampire Diaries? Only time will tell. But I’m guessing this sacrifice will not go as planned, and Joseph Morgan (who plays Klaus) had some things to say about that as well. We talked about his fascination with vampires, his biggest challenge playing Klaus, embracing the show fandom and much more.

REVIEW: Glee “Rumours”

May 4th, 2011

GLEE-Rumours-Season-2-Episode-19-2-550x380

Last night’s episode of Glee was dedicated to the Fleetwood Mac album “Rumours.” I enjoy some Fleetwood Mac music, so I was intrigued to see what the episode would bring. There was a ton story-wise: Will/Emma developments, Quinn/Finn developments and even some Santana/Brittany developments. “Rumours” focused on just that — rumors and how they affect people. The episode also focused on the meaning behind the album — relationships, fights, positive/negative energy and dreams. A lot of big things for one hour. I will say that I could have dealt with songs outside the album, but overall, it was a very enjoyable episode.

REVIEW: Make It Or Break It “Requiem for a Dream”

MAKE-IT-OR-BREAK-IT-Requiem-For-A-Dream-10

Last night’s episode of Make It Or Break It was a real heart breaker. I was hoping deep down that Emily wouldn’t have the baby (I’m not saying abortion, but I was thinking it might have been a false positive on the pregnancy test). Unfortunately, that’s not the case and there goes another ABC Family show with a pregnancy. I will say, however, that the way they chose to handle the whole thing was better than I expected. More on that later. Despite this episode’s general lack of gymnastics, I did enjoy the truly intense emotional scenes and the very end. I’m especially happy for Kaylie and her healing process.
