REVIEW: Pretty Little Liars “My Name Is Trouble”

June 29th, 2011

PRETTY-LITTLE-LIARS-My-Name-Is-Trouble-Season-2-Episode-3-14

Last night’s episode of Pretty Little Liars, aptly named “My Name is Trouble,” showcased the girl’s deviant ways, A’s torturous ways (is this a surprise anymore?), and creepy, creepy Jenna. I know I don’t often comment about the way a show was shot, but because of my field of work, I have an eye for that kind of thing. “My Name Is Trouble” was shot beautifully. There was a specific candle scene that I will talk about later that was just amazing. I love it when an episode is so visually stimulating (and yes this includes shirtless Toby and sexy Jason DiLaurentis along with the actual camera shots!).

Q&A: Callie Thorne (Dr. Dani) from Necessary Roughness

June 28th, 2011

NECESSARY ROUGHNESS PROMO CAST

USA Network has a slew of hits on its hands with fan and critical favorites Burn Notice, White Collar, Covert Affairs and Psych. Now the network is offering some new summer fare with Suits and Necessary Roughness. Suits premiered last week, and I am already hooked. This week, Necessary Roughness premieres, and it centers around Dr. Dani, a Long Island divorcee who gets a job as a therapist for a professional football team to support her family. The show is based on the true story of Dr. Dannenfelser. I recently had the chance to chat with Callie Thorne, who plays Dr. Dani, on a media call about her new role, getting insight from Dr. Donna and what we can expect this season.

ADVANCE REVIEW: Season 4 Premiere of True Blood

June 26th, 2011

True-Blood-Season-4-Episode-1-6

It’s that time again! Some of my favorite supernatural beings are back in Bon Temps for another exciting season. Season four picks up where it left off. When we last left Sookie, she learned from Eric that Bill’s intentions for her were not pure, and she wanted to get the heck out of town. She goes to faerie land in the premiere, which is very surreal and very un-True Blood. She meets her granddad and realizes that time is not what it should be in this “magical land.” While she wants to learn more about herself and her family, she realizes that this might not be the place to do it.

REVIEW: Pretty Little Liars “The Goodbye Look”

June 22nd, 2011

PRETTY-LITTLE-LIARS-The-Goodbye-Look-Season-2-Episode-2-10

Last night’s episode of “Pretty Little Liars,” called “The Goodbye Look,” was heartbreaking, heart-wrenching, and had all the makings of the hit drama I know and love. There were major developments for Aria and Ezra that I will talk about later. I know she is supposed to get another love interest, so I fear that this might be the end for a bit, but there was a rather amazing make-out session that would say otherwise. Who knows? This episode also focused a lot on a new guy back in town, Jason DiLaurentis. Ali’s brother did appear last season, but he has been re-cast. The character is back and creepier than ever. The episode also gives a lot of clues into Ali’s life and disappearance and who A might be.

Q&A: Doug Liman: Executive Producer of Covert Affairs and Suits

June 21st, 2011

suits-usa-tv-show_1308611220-000

Doug Liman is best known for directing and producing such movies as “The Bourne Identity” and “Swingers.” However, more recently, he has made the transition into television with the USA Network CIA drama “Covert Affairs.” This week, his new show “Suits” premieres on the same network. The show centers around a hot-shot lawyer who hires a young whip-smart kid who didn’t pass the bar. I recently had the chance to chat with Liman on a media call about the new show as well as some Covert Affairs intel as well.

Five Things To Know About the Season 2 Premiere of Pretty Little Liars “It’s Alive”

June 14th, 2011

The Pretty Little Liars

I will be reviewing Pretty Little Liars all season, so instead of a simple Advance Review of tonight’s premiere, I thought I’d do something a little different and give you five little tid-bits about tonight’s premiere. They aren’t super-spoilery so I hope you enjoy!

  1. The girls go to therapy. I know a lot of you have probably seen the promo photos with the girls in a therapy session. What the picture doesn’t tell you is that the girls consider telling the therapist about A. I won’t tell you if they do or don’t but it is an amazing edge-of-your-seat type moment.
  2. Shirtless Ezra. I almost put this as my #1 but I decided to be slightly more classy. Yes, ladies (and gentlemen), Ezra is shirtless in the premiere. Enjoy!
  3. The parents get involved. Up until now, we’ve definitely seen the parents take a relatively active role in the girls’ lives but in the premiere, they are going to lay down the law. They don’t think the girls are good for each other. It will be interesting to see the girls find ways around the fact that their parents don’t think they should see each other.
  4. A is back, bitches. And she/he is more creepy and crazy than ever.
  5. Spencer and Toby. There is a really great moment with them in the premiere. They will be turning to each other for the support they need and aren’t getting from their families. I really love this couple and I’m excited to see how their relationship unfolds this season.

Be sure to tune in tonight at 8 pm to ABC Family for the season two premiere of Pretty Little Liars “It’s Alive.”

INTERVIEW: Troian Bellisario (Spencer) from Pretty Little Liars

June 14th, 2011

Spencer Hastings

Pretty Little Liars is finally back! The long wait is over! Tonight’s premiere is fantastic and it deals with the aftermath of the whole Bell Tower incident. It sets up this season for some very interesting things and I can’t wait for everyone to see it. I recently had the chance to talk to Troian Bellisario, who plays Spencer, about the upcoming season. We talked about the Spencer/Toby relationship and its evolution, flashback scenes and a very interesting A theory.

Q&A: Skyler Samuels (Chloe King) from The Nine Lives of Chloe King

June 13th, 2011

nine-lives-of-chloe-king

The Nine Lives of Chloe King premieres tomorrow night on ABC Family. From my Advance Review, you can tell that I really enjoyed it. I think it’s a great new summer ABC Family drama that incorporates some interesting supernatural elements. I recently had the chance to chat with Skyler Samuels, who plays Chloe, on a media call. She gave a preview of what’s to come, talked about the challenges of playing someone with superpowers and how she is very similar to Chloe (minus the cat-like abilities, of course).
