A Love Letter to New Girl & Advance Review of “Cece Crashes”

November 7th, 2011

I have a love/love relationship with my television. I watch a ridiculous amount of television — some guilty pleasures, some shows that I just can’t wait week after week for (read: The Vampire Diaries, The Good Wife and Revenge), and some that make me laugh and cry (read: Parenthood). There are new shows that come and go every fall (some quicker than others) and some that upon first viewing, I can tell it will be a huge hit. New Girl was one of those shows. Zooey Deschanel stars as Jess, a quirky girl getting over a big breakup, who moves in with three guys (Schmidt, Nick and Winston). This unlikely mix of people become each other’s friends (and family) as they all try to deal with different issues in their lives. Sounds like a fairly standard sitcom, right? Except it’s so much more heartwarming and hilarious.

INTERVIEW: Carrie Preston talks returning to The Good Wife, True Blood and More

November 6th, 2011

I absolutely adore everything about The Good Wife — from the tremendous acting to the amazing writing to all the characters with such great backstory and storylines. One of the greatest things about the show is that they bring on such amazing guest stars. Some become regulars (Alan Cumming) and some return for more in another season. Carrie Preston played Elsbeth Tascioni in season one and she is back recurring her role in tonight’s episode. I recently had the chance to chat with Carrie and we talked about what Elsbeth is up to this time around, season five of True Blood and some of her upcoming movie projects.

REVIEW: The Vampire Diaries “Ordinary People”

November 4th, 2011

THE-VAMPIRE-DIARIES-Ordinary-People-Season-3-Episode-8-7

E here again for some more of The Vampire Diaries – “Ordinary People.” After watching this episode, this title makes me feel sad in my sad place for the Originals Crew – they were just people, guys.

Okay, we start with Elena, Damon, and Alaric going back down to the Lockwood estate to figure out these cave drawings. Alaric has apparently really upped his game lately because he starts doing some interpreting. He’s able to read Niklaus, Rebekah, and Elijah on the wall (in Viking speak no less), oh snap. Then they all look at each other and are like, “What, the what?!”

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Robert and Michelle King (Creators) from The Good Wife

November 4th, 2011

I sing the praises of The Good Wife every week, and it’s a show that continues to surprise me as it shatters the procedural mold. It’s full of wonderful twists and turns and phenomenal acting and writing. I also love that it tackles issues that are extremely relevant and topical. I recently had the chance to talk to Robert and Michelle King (creators of The Good Wife) at an event for Human Rights First, where they were receiving the Sydney Lumet Award to for the show’s coverage of various human rights issues. We talked about how human rights factors into the show, the balance between procedural and character and what’s coming up this season (including some exciting guest stars).

REVIEW: Glee “Pot ‘O Gold”

November 2nd, 2011

GLEE-Pot-O-Gold-Season-3-Episode-4-550x380

Glee was finally back last night after a few weeks off due to the World Series. And I have to say, it wasn’t as triumphant of a return as I had hoped for. The last few episodes (so, really, all of the episodes in season three) have been fantastic. They had a nice balance of story and music and featured some great songs. This episode was very plot-heavy, but not in the best way. There was some good music, and I did enjoy the new leprechaun/foreign exchange student/”Glee Project” winner Rory Flanagan (played by Damian McGinty), but his whole arc felt very forced and I wish he had gotten more of a chance to show what he’s made of. That said, there were some good moments as well. But I think I am more looking forward to next week when two of McKinley’s own are going to lose their v card.

INTERVIEW: Christa B. Allen (Charlotte Grayson) from Revenge

November 2nd, 2011

christa-b-allen

Revenge is one of my absolute favorite shows and I can barely contain my excitement each week waiting for a new episode. For those who may not know (seriously, watch this show), Revenge centers around Emily Thorne (formerly Amanda Clark, played by the amazing Emily Van Camp), whose family has been wronged by certain elite members of a Hamptons community. She returns to the very community under a new name, to take down those who ruined her childhood and her family. However, not everything is as perfect as it seems in this well-off town. Recently, Victoria Grayson (the Queen Bee, played by Madeline Stowe) was exposed in one of Emily’s schemes for saying she wished her daughter Charlotte (played by the lovely Christa B. Allen) was never born. I recently had the chance to talk to Christa about Charlotte and Victoria, her budding relationship with Declan (the guy from the other side of town, played by Connor Paolo) and what we can expect from tonight’s new episode.
