Five Things To Know About the Season Finale of Bunheads “A Nutcracker in Paradise”

August 20th, 2012

Bunheads is a show I was determined to love from the beginning — even when I read the lackluster pilot script. I believe Amy Sherman-Palladino is up there with Jason Katims’ of the world (if we put out of our minds season six of Gilmore Girls and season seven which she was not a part of). So it’s safe to say I really, really wanted to like it. And after a strong pilot (stronger than the script), I slowly began do just that. Sutton Foster is a genius. She has amazing comedic timing and is the stand out performer of the show. Oddly, I think Kelly Bishop (who played an amazing matriarch in Emily Gilmore) is a weaker part of the show — to no fault of her own. I feel as if once her character is more developed, Bishop will blossom as Fanny Flowers (yes, the pun was intended there). The girls are also growing on me. I adore Julia Goldani Telles’ portrayal of Sasha and Kaitlyn Jenkins’ Boo is funny and charming. The other girls need some development, but I am enjoying where their stories are going. Even though Bunheads hasn’t reached a level of Gilmore Girls perfection yet (though we have seen some very recognizable guest stars!), I am so glad ABC Family has decided to give it a full season order. It has become a show I really look forward to and I can’t wait to see more. Tonight’s episode is pretty great. So, without spoiling too much, here are five things to know about the summer finale.

VIDEO INTERVIEW: Colton Haynes (Jackson) from Teen Wolf

August 6th, 2012

Teen Wolf has really gotten so good this season. Last week’s crazy showdown where Scott had to reveal his true identity to his mom was heartbreaking! And the kanima has found a new and very surprising master. I can’t even begin to imagine what Gerard is going to use the kanima for and if it will involve trying to kill Scott and Derek. At Comic Con, I had the chance to catch up with the cast of Teen Wolf. Colton Haynes (Jackson) talks about the challenges of playing a kanima, a possible cure and Jackson’s constant hot and cold relationship with Lydia.

INTERVIEW: Joseph Julian Soria (Hector Cruz) from Army Wives

August 5th, 2012

I adore Army Wives. It’s a truly unique show, full of all the drama and cliffhangers you could possibly want. This season has been an interesting one, with some new faces and the lack of one of my favorites (come back Pamela!) and a couple of near death experiences. One of those new faces is Joseph Julian “JJ” Soria, who plays Hector Cruz. He’s a young soldier, who cheated on his wife Gloria and now has to face the consequences of his one night stand. Those consequences are not small though, and they come in the form of a pregnant girl and a broken marriage. I recently had the chance to chat with JJ about what’s coming up for Hector and Gloria, being the newbie in the cast and what he would like to see from Hector going forward.

INTERVIEW: Thomas Sadoski (Don) from The Newsroom

August 5th, 2012

thomas sadoski

I had heard so many mixed reviews of The Newsroom (read: mostly bad) that I will admit, I waited until it was a few episodes in to catch up. I quickly realized that you shouldn’t believe all you hear, and was pleasantly surprised at just how much I liked The Newsroom. I worked in news for a long time and seeing this fake newsroom relive the big stories of 2010 and 2011 is quite interesting (and actually quite realistic). One of the big stories that I found myself latching onto was the love triangle between Don, Maggie and Jim. Don started out as this bad guy who seemed disloyal to his anchor and not so good at being a boyfriend. But as the season has played out, Don has really developed and we see that he’s not such a bad guy. He just isn’t so good at this “life shit” as the guy who plays him, Thomas Sadoski, so accurately puts it. I recently had the chance to chat with Sadoski about the fantastic evolution and development of Don, Maggie’s emotional affair with Jim and reliving significant world events.

INTERVIEW: Gina Torres (Jessica Pearson) from Suits

August 2nd, 2012

Suits - Season 2

Suits has had a stellar season so far. Harvey is being sued for fraud, Donna just got fired because she’s kind of the reason he got sued and the big bosses are fighting it out. Is Hardman a good guy or a bad guy? Is Louis going to finally redeem himself? And what about Jessica? With her firm and job on the line, she’s going to do anything to keep Harvey reigned in, Hardman at bay and the firm afloat. I recently had the chance to chat with Gina Torres (who plays Jessica) about what’s coming up, the decision to fire Donna and when we might learn about her personal life. And for all the Firefly fans out there, I asked her about the Comic Con panel that she wasn’t able to attend.
