ADVANCE REVIEW: Pretty Little Liars “Salt Meets Wound”
January 10th, 2011 by thetvchick
After the mid-season premiere of Pretty Little Liars, we know that Emily has come out to her parents, Aria has admitted to the girls who she’s dating, Hanna had a falling out with Lucas and a visit from A, and Spencer’s sister got married unexpectedly. So it’s no surprise that a lot happens in the second episode as well. “Salt Meets Wound” deals a lot with the aftermath of Emily coming out. Both of her parents struggle to accept this, each in very different ways. Surprisingly, her tough military dad seems more okay with it than her mom. There’s also some extremely awkward moments between Maya and Emily’s family when Maya is invited over to dinner. Emily is hoping this will put her parents more at ease, but you’ll just have to watch to find out what happens.
Our favorite taboo couple Aria and Ezra are paranoid after the whole “I See You” debacle. And Noel Kahn may or may not be A. (who knows?) but he is going to use his little bit of knowledge to his advantage. How? I can’t say/spoil, but the dynamic between the three of them becomes very interesting. Spencer is back with Alex (it was nice to see her love interest again), but A. complicates matters like she tends to do. And poor Hanna. She’s in a wheelchair, unable to walk and A. is out there just waiting to do something bad. But as we learned in the last episode, it’s not just the girls who have secrets, the parents do too. I’m not going to spoil what happens with Ashley Marin and her stolen money but it’s really great.
“Salt Meets Wound” was definitely an edge-of-your-seat episode of Pretty Little Liars, as most of them tend to be. There was a lot of drama and theorizing about A. And a character we haven’t seen in a little while comes back. There was also another flashback scene (I love those). I would love to see an entire flashback episode about the night Alison went missing. Not sure if that will happen since we generally get her in bits and pieces but I think it would be great. And one little tidbit to add: Norman Buckley (a frequent director of the show) posted on Twitter to look out for a very subtle clue in this episode. I have no idea what that means, but keep your eyes open! Also, I know that some guest stars will be coming on the show soon, and I am very excited to see what’s next. This show continues to get better and better with every episode.
Pretty Little Liars airs tonight at 8 pm on ABC Family. Be sure to tune in!

Great episode – I think this was the best of the season, and Hanna’s surprise party was full of great drama, like the Sean/Lucas scrap, and of course the big revelation that Lucas gives to Hanna after.
Also, there was some great music, that last scene had “Darken Me” by Electric Owls, and I was also really happy to hear Pigeon John’s “The Bomb” during the flashback of Alison, when she has just caused Noel and his girlfriend to break up, because she thought that Aria might like that. You can watch a clip of that second scene at http://vimeo.com/18856656
