Thanks everyone for sticking with me through these challenges. This is the last one! And kind of a cool one actually. We were supposed to take a look from one of the character’s and tell you all how to “get the look.” I chose Jane, because obviously she has a great sense of style. The look I chose from the premiere I thought it encapsulated her taste in fashion. Keep reading to see what I found so that you can get the look.

Jane By Design Style Challenge: Blog 6

January 4th, 2012

It’s the penultimate fashion challenge for Jane By Design, which premiered last night! I hope you all tuned in! Anyway, this assignment was quite interesting. In our original Donovan and Decker trunk, there were a few small bags of pretzels. I had no idea what could possibly involve using pretzels and fashion in the same sentence and then I got my challenge. We are supposed to use the pretzels as inspiration to create something amazing. I was honestly stumped. I’m not great at creating things and I didn’t want to dig out the fabric markers and start drawing on something. That my friends, can’t be reversed. So I started thinking…maybe I could create a “look” that is inspired by pretzels and so I did! Check out the results below.

Jane By Design Style Challenge: Blog #5

January 3rd, 2012

Well, there’s only a few more challenges left in order to finish up the Jane By Design Style Challenge (and boy, has it been a challenge). For number five, we had to take a plain blouse and style it for work and then for going out in the evening. I decided to go simple. I used the same necklace for both, and then classed it up for work using a nice sweater and then dressed it up for the evening with a long black skirt. Check out the results below.

Jane By Design Style Challenge: Blog #4

December 29th, 2011

So you all know I’m participating in the Jane by Design Style Challenge. And it certainly is a challenge. I loved the purse assignment but things asking me to create new items of clothing are not completely in my wheelhouse. But hey, it’s worth tapping into your creative side and doing something new for a cute show. Challenge 4 was to take a hideously ugly Christmas/Holiday vest and turn it into something fashionable. Well, Gray Chandler Murray from Donovan and Decker said to make it into something spectacular. Seeing as I don’t have a sewing machine or resources to design something professionally, I took my best shot. Keep reading to see how I turned a vest into cute holiday socks!

Jane By Design Style Challenge: Blog #3

December 23rd, 2011

For those of you reading my site these days, you know I’m participating in the Jane By Design Style Challenge. Jane By Design is premiering January 3rd on ABC Family and it’s a super cute show that centers around Jane Quimby who finds herself working at the fashion powerhouse Donovan and Decker. For my third challenge, I am supposed to go to my closet and find the purse that best represents me. Let me tell you, this challenge was right up my alley. I LOVE purses. I have a ton of them. Some of which haven’t even been used yet. So when I went to my closet, I really couldn’t even pick one…so I picked two. Both of them happen to be from my favorite purse designer Lulu Guinness. But since I could never afford her amazing stuff full price, these both were found at an amazing sample sale a few years ago.

Jane By Design Style Challenge: Blog #2

December 20th, 2011

So for those of you following along on my style adventures for Jane By Design, I recently got Challenge #2. Our challenge was to choose our fashion icon and style a plain white tee shirt after them. We were given fabric markers and the tee shirt. I had to think hard about my style icon. I like a lot of things people wear. But for me, it’s about simplicity and comfort. I chose Jennifer Aniston because I think she can look good in anything. But she often dresses in a simple white tee shirt, jeans and a scarf. Easy, classy and pretty. Here’s one example:

She looks put together and nice while still being casual. So that was the look I was going for with this challenge. I dressed up the white tee shirt with a dragon fly pin (made by my Grandpa), a silk scarf and for a little added flare, I added a ribbon across the bottom to dress it up. I didn’t want to mess with the fabric markers because those are permanent and my drawing skills are less than stellar. Here are the results:

Who is your style icon? Head on over to the Jane By Design Facebook Page and tell them who it is! Be sure to tell them The TV Chick sent you! Also, if you are looking to see another really great design as part of the challenge, my buddy Jessica at Small Screen Scoop designed an amazing tee shirt that is inspired by Pretty Little Liars. Go check it out!

Jane By Design Style Challenge: Blog 1

December 16th, 2011

I have been chosen to participate in a Jane By Design challenge for ABC Family and I’m super excited about it. I might not write about fashion a lot but I love it. I think fashion on television shows are integral part of the show and Jane By Design is all about fashion. So, I received a fantastic Donovan and Decker trunk (seriously awesome) full of some fun things — a dress form, some shirts and all sorts of items that will be part of our challenges. For the first challenge, I had to go shopping for design inspiration on a budget. Check out what I found!

ABC Family Picks Up Three New Series

February 1st, 2011

ABC-Family-Logo

My love for ABC Family knows no bounds, and I cover most of their shows on my site. So when they announced three new shows that were picked up to go to series, I took notice. The following shows will have a 10 episode series to start, which is the way most ABC Family shows work. Weigh in with what you think! Will you be watching any or all of these shows?

Pretty Little Liars Gets Full Season Order

June 28th, 2010

After only a small handful of episodes, and premiering to huge numbers, ABC Family has given a full season order to Pretty Little Liars. The show will film 12 additional episodes which will bring their season total to 22 episodes. I could not be more excited! There is plenty of material to work with and expand upon and I can’t wait to see more! I was just talking with one of the shows stars today (Sasha Pieterse, who plays Alison) who said she had her fingers crossed for a season 2. It looks like she’ll get what she wanted (or close to it)!

Kate Jeurgens, the EVP of Original Programming, said ”Pretty Little Liars is a breakout hit for the network. It’s a perfect fit with the network’s strong slate of original scripted dramas.”

I couldn’t agree more Ms. Jeurgens and I am excited to see what mysteries abound in Rosewood with 12 additional episodes.

Pretty Little Liars airs on Tuesday nights at 8 pm on ABC Family.

First Look: Pretty Little Liars

April 15th, 2010

Pretty Little Liars is coming to ABC Family on June 8th and I’m so excited for it. It is based on a book series of the same name, and I adored the book series. Yesterday, ABC Family released a new poster for the show and it is fantastic. Take a look:

Intriguing right?? Pretty Little Liars stars Lucy Hale (“Privileged”), Holy Marie Combs (“Charmed”), Chad Lowe (“24″), Laura Leighton (“Melrose Place”), Ian Harding, Bianca Lawson, Shay Mitchell, Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson,  and Sasha Pieterse. It centers around the mystery of a missing girl from their close knit neighborhood and how four friends come to terms with their past. I will have much more coverage leading up to the premiere so be sure to check back soon! But for now, never trust a pretty girl with an ugly secret…
