There are a few big, huge things that happen in tonight’s episode of The Vampire Diaries, but I don’t have any desire to reveal big spoilers. So, read on for some tidbits about tonight’s episode.

1. Strange bed fellows: There are some interesting, unexpected partnerships in this episode. Let’s just say desperate situations call for desperate measures. I’m not going to tell you who pairs up, but it sets up some really good stuff for the second half of the season.

2. Someone is absent: There is a character noticeably missing from the entire episode, and it’s someone I quite enjoy. Let’s just say a certain someone’s boyfriend might do some not-so-nice talkin’ about this person while she’s not there to defend herself.

3. Everyone is trying to figure out Klaus’ next move: What is crazy up to next? Clearly, he’s super pissed about Stefan stealing the coffins and wants to find him. But it won’t be that simple. The Mystic Falls folks aren’t exactly about to give in to Klaus’ demands, but do they have a choice? Also, be prepared to use the term ‘Klausageddon’ in every day conversation.

4. Siblings: A huge part of the series is about Stefan and Damon — yin and yang, good and evil — trying to balance each other out in Mystic Falls. Then one goes all Ripper on us, the other goes soft, and they switch places. But a lot of this episode focuses on Elena and Jeremy’s relationship. Jeremy and his issues definitely take front and center. I really won’t say more than that, you’ll have to tune in!

5. New Faces: We are introduced to a new hybrid that Klaus has under his wing and a new doctor, played by Torrey Devitto (from Pretty Little Liars). We already all know Torrey’s character will be around for a bit, so I’m interested to see where that goes. As for the hybrid, he is nice to look at but who knows how long he will be around.

The New Deal airs tonight at 8 PM on the CW.

The Lying Game was one of the pleasant surprises of last year (it’s weird to say last year even though it’s only about a day into the new year). What seemed like a teen version of “Ringer,” turned into an interesting, unique drama. When last we left our twinsies, Sutton was about to sabotage her own birthday party and expose Emma. But then, Emma (playing sutton) made this weird speech and the real Sutton never showed up. So now the only ones that know the truth are Emma, Ethan and Thayer (Mad’s brother for those keeping track). And of course their shady parents know something, but I digress.

A good portion of the episode is Thayer, Emma and Ethan trying to figure what the heck happened to Sutton. Then the police show up and they found Sutton’s car at the bottom of the lake. Rough day for Sutton and fake Sutton! Laurel is all suspicious and Emma keeps trying to shrug off her suspicion, because she doesn’t want to lose everything. Meanwhile, Char’s aunt comes back in town (played by the ever-so-lovely Charisma Carpenter) and she knows something big about Alec (Mad’s father) and Ted (Emma/Sutton’s father). Char seems to be the only one legitimately happy to have her back in town.

There’s a nice big twist at the end of the episode that I won’t spoil but it sets up a very interesting second half to the season. I am curious to see what happens with the parents’ shady past. And we find out whether or not Sutton is alive in episode two, but I’m not going to spoil that, either. I think the premiere was intriguing and solid and kept me wanting more. I really like The Lying Game, and I’m glad it has gotten good. I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised seeing as it’s on ABC Family, and it’s based on a book by the same author as “Pretty Little Liars.” I look forward to seeing what’s coming up!

The big mid-season premiere of The Lying Game is tonight at 9 PM on ABC Family.

Pretty Little Liars is finally back and it feels like its been so long! Tonight’s big midseason premiere is nothing short of amazing. The girls get the closest they’ve ever gotten to ‘A’ and they obtain an item of A’s that is crucial to figuring out his/her identity. The episode starts off with the girls not exactly getting along. There’s an epic fight, which was pretty entertaining to watch. But at first, I had to rack my brain as to why they all might be fighting (and shunning Emily). I even went as far as reading my review of the finale, and then I realized, they weren’t previously fighting. So why now? Well, in the middle of the episode it all gets explained, and it’s a pretty fun twist. I won’t spoil it for you, though.

The episode also features a very interesting development for Aria and Ezra fans out there (of which I am definitely one). Ezra takes a big step and tells Aria’s parents. Understandably, they are not pleased at all and it will probably have big ramifications for their future. But I am glad Ezra finally did this. They needed to get it all out in the open before A exposed them or Jackie exposed them or something worse happened. But don’t go losing faith yet, Ezria fans, I think there’s definitely still hope for the two of them.

In other romantic developments, Caleb comes home. But Lucas is definitely still pining after Hanna, which could make for some awkward roommate sessions. I have a feeling Lucas is going to be playing a pretty big role in the second half of the season, just from hearing what various actors have had to say. In any case, I look forward to it. There’s also some interesting family developments for Hanna. Her dad is coming back to Rosewood, which means we haven’t seen the last of bitchy Kate. As for Spencer, Toby doesn’t want to accept their breakup and I really hope that it’s not the end for them.

And A…oh that A. She’s still around, torturing those girls. Garrett Reynolds is back and so is creepy Jenna, trying to hide their involvement in Ali’s murder. And if all of this wasn’t enough, the last few minutes of the show are crazy intense. It is the closest we’ve gotten to A ever. And as I said, the girls get something of A’s that will mean major things for the show. “Through Many Dangers, Tolles and Snares” was probably one of the best episodes of the entire series. It is that action-packed and sets up a major arc for the rest of this season. I know I’m not the only one in wishing this, but I hope A gets what’s coming to them. And we are going to find out who ‘A’ is in what is sure to be a fantastic season if it keeps up the momentum from the premiere.

Be sure to tune in tonight for the big premiere of Pretty Little Liars at 8 PM on ABC Family!

So, I was pretty sure that Parks and Recreation couldn’t get any better. The last couple of episodes have been amazing. First, with Ben and Leslie finally getting back together. And then, the hilarious ethics trial that involved Leslie and Ben officially declaring their love for one another. I still have both of those episodes on my DVR. Tonight’s episode is even better. Seriously. It made me cry and well, that’s a hard feat for any comedy.

The episode centers around Leslie not knowing what to do with herself while she is suspended from her job. She becomes Citizen Knope and forms “PCP,” The Parks Committee of Pawnee, to try and be active as a private citizen. She also gets everyone in her department the most kick-ass, thoughtful Christmas presents. She also invents “salgar” — salt and sugar, mixed together. Which is hilarious and intriguing. It’s a productive time for Leslie! Meanwhile, Ben is struggling with trying to find a job and keep himself busy as well. He’s not sure he wants to settle on a boring accounting firm job, though. Who could blame him?

And just when Leslie thinks she can focus on her campaign to keep busy, her campaign advisors tell her that as a result of the ethics trial, she is polling super low. They don’t think she has a shot at winning. I don’t want to spoil the end (the part that made me cry) but let’s just say that the Parks Department comes through big time for Leslie. It was a beautiful moment that literally is making me teary-eyed as I write this.

What I love most about Parks and Rec, which I have called to many of my friends the best comedy on TV right now, is just how invested I feel in the characters’ lives. That’s not an easy thing for a television show to accomplish. Not only does it make me cry but it makes me laugh out loud as well. I believe we can all see a little bit of ourselves in the Pawnee bunch and I think the show has truly found its voice. The friendships and the relationships and the antics all work so well to form a show that is both heartwarming and hilarious. I can’t wait for everyone to see tonight’s episode. (And to know that I’m not the only one who cried!)

Be sure to tune in tonight at 8:30 PM to NBC for an all new episode of Parks and Recreation! And if you just can’t wait, check out a video preview here:

Tonight’s episode of “New Girl” titled “Bad in Bed” is funny, quirky and epitomizes everything I love about this show. Even when it’s not the funniest episode of the series (sorry, nothing can top “Cece Crashes” in my head), it has a ton of heart and moments where you cringe and laugh along with the characters. The episode centers around Jess’ decision to have sex with Justin Long’s character, Paul. She asks the guys for advice which turns into a hilarious debate on who is better in bed. Winston and Nick both agree that Schmidt is out of the running and try to convince Jess which person they should listen to for advice. Of course, everything with Jess and Paul goes horribly awry. There’s a product called a starfish, weird voices and perhaps even a choking incident (don’t worry, it’s much more funny than gross or dirty).

The other big story line of the episode is Nick’s need for a haircut. Schmidt wants to send him to his fancy salon and Winston wants to send him to his barber shop. But Nick hates people touching his hair and unnatural human interaction. I can’t say I blame him. I won’t spoil where he actually ends up going, but his haircut turns out to be ridiculous. Meanwhile, Schmidt is vying for a new corner cubicle (in his all-female office) and has to kiss up to his boss (played by guest star Michaela Watkins) who kind of hates him. I won’t tell you what happens at the baby shower Schmidt gets himself invited to, but it’s pretty great. Throw into the mix a competitive coworker (played by guest star Eva Amurri) and another one who perhaps Schmidt sleeps with (played by guest star Katie Walder) and it makes for some great comedy.

Overall, it’s a great episode. I love Zooey Deschanel’s chemistry with Justin Long. It is awkward but lovely. I like Paul and he is quite patient with Jess, which is refreshing. But obviously I am not rooting for this relationship too hard because I want Jess and Nick to get together. I also am beginning to like Winston more. I think his character is developing quite nicely. This was a very sexy episode of New Girl, but handled in a nice way. I laughed, I felt for Jess and I continue to love this show more and more every week.

Be sure to tune in tonight at 9 PM on FOX for an all-new episode of New Girl!

Last week’s episode of New Girl was probably my favorite of the series. I have watched it about five times already and it’s still on my DVR. This week’s episode, “Thanksgiving” is also fantastic, even if it’s not in a laugh out loud way. But I still love it just as much. Jess invites a Paul, a teacher from her school, over for Thanksgiving. Paul is played by Justin Long, and him and Jess are pretty much the same exact person. They also have great chemistry. Jess invites him over to impress him, but of course, the guys didn’t want to make Thanksgiving dinner at all. They want to watch football and relax and not have to entertain anyone. Jess gets Schmidt (who is some sort of OCD cook) to agree to do all the cooking by promising that CeCe will come over. Love this!

During the Thanksgiving preparations, there are some hilarious and endearing scenes with CeCe and Schmidt. But back to Paul and Jess. Paul likes making up songs and plays the violin and seems like a standup guy. All the guys like him, except for Nick. Of course, because we all know Nick likes Jess but hasn’t admitted it to himself yet. So, all the Nick/Jess shippers (I might consider myself one of them) will have to wait a little longer for anything to happen, because Paul and Jess seem to get along like gangbusters. But honestly, this is why I love this show so much. They are letting all of the relationships build organically. You can’t have Nick and Jess sleep together right away because then the whole dynamic changes. So, I’m okay with waiting for now.

But back to the episode…expect a few hilarious scenes attempting to cook/warm the turkey, some fun cooking scenes and just an overall great episode. I tend to love holiday episodes of shows and this one was no exception. New Girl continues to be one of my favorite comedies on TV right now and I am excited to see more.

Be sure to tune in tonight for the Thanksgiving episode of New Girl!

So, how about we just forget about last week’s episode of Glee, shall we? I had some big issues with “Pot O’ Gold” and I’m happy to say it was just one little blip in the radar of what has been a pretty great Glee season so far. “The First Time” was fantastic. The main focal point is the Glee Club putting on “West Side Story.” But Artie gets in Blaine and Rachel’s head by suggesting that they can’t truly get into the mindset of Tony and Maria if they have never had sex. As slightly ridiculous as that may sound, it drives the plot forward.

Blaine and Kurt have agreed to wait to have sex, but then Blaine returns to Dalton (yes, the Warblers are back!) to visit and meets new Warbler Sebastian. Let me just say, ladies (and gentlemen), he is super sexy. Sebastian clearly wants that, and I doubt he is going to give up on Blaine just because he has a boyfriend. Anyway, Kurt, Blaine and new sexy Warbler go to a gay bar but the night doesn’t end as planned, though. I don’t want to spoil more than that, you’ll just have to wait and see. Meanwhile, Rachel seduces Finn, which is not a hard task. But when they are romantically making out fireside, of course Rachel has to ruin it a bit.

What’s so great about everything that is going on in these characters’ personal lives is that the story is told through “West Side Story” songs. Santana makes a killer Anita, by the way. And Rachel and Blaine’s rendition of “Tonight” gave me chills. Chills! I don’t want to give too much more away, but whatever does (or does not) happen is wonderful. Also, Karofsky returns! He and Kurt have a nice interaction and I was so glad to see him back. Mike Chang has a good story as well. And even though the Glee kids are the focal point of the episode, Coach Beiste’s storyline is my favorite. She finally gets a love interest in Cooter (played by Eric Bruskotter), and it’s about time! Be prepared to get very emotional during her scenes. Just trying to give you a fair warning. Dot Marie Jones does some fantastic work here. Probably her best of the entire series.

“The First Time” was one of the most emotional episodes of Glee — between all the hormones running wild, Artie making his directorial debut and Coach Beiste liking a guy. I absolutely adored the way the story was told, the music, and mostly everything about this episode. And I think if you were also hoping to forget last week’s episode, you will adore this episode as much as I did.

Be sure to tune in tonight at 8 PM to FOX for an all new episode of Glee

I have a love/love relationship with my television. I watch a ridiculous amount of television — some guilty pleasures, some shows that I just can’t wait week after week for (read: The Vampire Diaries, The Good Wife and Revenge), and some that make me laugh and cry (read: Parenthood). There are new shows that come and go every fall (some quicker than others) and some that upon first viewing, I can tell it will be a huge hit. New Girl was one of those shows. Zooey Deschanel stars as Jess, a quirky girl getting over a big breakup, who moves in with three guys (Schmidt, Nick and Winston). This unlikely mix of people become each other’s friends (and family) as they all try to deal with different issues in their lives. Sounds like a fairly standard sitcom, right? Except it’s so much more heartwarming and hilarious.

Jess might be quirky (she makes up songs/sings all the time) but she is loving and sweet and strong. It’s about time we had a female sitcom character that isn’t the wife who is whining all the time or the girl who is constantly trying to get guys or the braniac. Jess knows who she is and isn’t afraid to do the slow chicken dance in front of a crowd of wedding guests. She might not be able to say “penis” without turning it into a different word, but she’s pretty great. And the guys are fantastic, too. Nick is the genuine one who constantly has to tell the others they are a little bit insane. But he’s caring and sweet even if he is a little insecure. Schmidt is the one who the “douchebag jar” was made for (hey, I’d love to see that make a re-appearance!). He is well-meaning but has a pretty high view of himself. And Winston is trying to figure out the world because he was overseas playing basketball for years.

Now, onto tomorrow night’s episode. “Cece Crashes” is probably my favorite of the entire season and that’s saying a lot. The episode centers around Jess’ model best friend crashing at the apartment after a break-up with a super lame DJ. Of course, the guys are all over her and she makes them do some very funny things to try and win her over. Cece also thinks that Nick likes Jess. I think their chemistry is very clear, but if I had to guess, this will be a slow revelation that they both like each other. But Cece gets all in Jess’ head and she of course gets awkward around him and the way he points his feet (you’ll understand more after tomorrow night). Expect amazing jokes about toilet paper, Grumpy Old Men and a couple of awkward bathroom scenes.

If you haven’t watched New Girl yet, now is the perfect time to start. If you are in love with the show like I am, you are guaranteed to love “Cece Crashes.” I am pretty sure I laughed out loud for a solid two minutes.

Be sure to tune in tomorrow night at 9 PM to FOX for an all-new episode of New Girl.

This week has been all about Halloween episodes from some of my favorite comedies. Happy Endings had a great one last night and tonight is another one of my favorite Halloween episodes from Parks and Recreation (one of my favorite comedies on TV right now). “Meet ‘n Greet” and it focuses on Leslie’s campaign for City Council and Andy and April’s Halloween Party. Leslie decides to hold a meet and greet for small business owners to get them to vote for her. Of course, Tom’s hilarious company “Entertainment 720″ takes over the entire thing (think: rugs with Aziz Ansari’s face on them!) There’s also an absolutely hilarious scene that involves a mobile hot tub, but I don’t want to spoil too much. Just prepare to laugh a ton. But even though Tom takes over, Leslie isn’t one to back down. She wants to win the voters over in order to win the election.

Meanwhile, April and Andy plan a big Halloween party without consulting Ben. He’s pretty pissed off but in true Ben fashion, he is non-confrontational. I was hoping for a reappearance of his Batman costume (come on, how awesome was that?) but sadly, not in this Halloween episode. It was referenced, though. And let’s just say Andy tries to get Ben to confront him. Anyway, one of my favorite costumes of the night was Chris as Sherlock Holmes, and Chris and Jerry’s daughter have some pretty great scenes together. Even Ron Swanson and Ann Perkins get into their own version of the Halloween spirit by working together in some unexpected and funny ways. Overall, it’s a hilarious episode filled with some great costumes. You should tune in tonight! And stay tuned for the Halloween episode of “The Office” right after!

We’ve all heard the story of Snow White and Prince Charming, but never quite like this. “Once Upon A Time” starts out with the wedding between Snow White (played by the absolutely amazing Ginnifer Goodwin) and Prince Charming (played by Josh Dallas). But not all is great in fairy tale land. The evil queen (played by Lana Parilla) brings news of an evil curse she is going to bestow upon the entire city. A bit later, Snow White is pregnant and the curse is coming quickly and furiously. Snow White goes to see the crazy and locked up Rumplestiltskin (played brilliantly by Robert Carlyle) for advice and he demands the name of her first born (Emma). Meanwhile, Gepetto and Pinocchio (remember them?) build a vessel so that one person can escape the curse. It’s supposed to be Snow and her unborn daughter but she has the baby before the vessel is finished. Let’s go to modern day, shall we?

Emma Swan is having a stellar 28th birthday, working as a bail bondsman and feeling pretty lonely. Then Henry (her son she gave up for adoption) shows up at her doorstep. She doesn’t want a part of this but agrees to take him home to Storybrooke, Maine. (Super clever, right?!) On the way, he admits to having a book of fairy tales where all the fairy tales come true. He waxes poetic about how she is a part of the story and she has to stay in town because they are all trapped in Storybrooke they just don’t know it. Emma is not quick to believe this, and Henry’s adoptive mother (read: the mayor of the town and Evil Queen) is not exactly having it.

I know what you are thinking. Really, a modern day fairy tale? How is that going to work? I’m here to tell you that it works well. Once Upon A Time will leave you nostalgic and wanting more. It is charming (one could also say enchanting) and sweet but also dramatic and dark at the same time. Ginnifer Goodwin is phenomenal and Jennifer Morrison plays a great straight woman. The show is from the creative minds of Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis, who wrote for the cult-favorite “Lost,” and the show is not without shades of “Lost.” The cast of characters may not be stuck on an island, but they are stuck in time. I’ve watched the pilot maybe four or five times and each time I pick up on more nuances and fairy tale references that I may not have picked up on before. “Once Upon A Time” is truly unique. I’ve never seen anything like it on television before, and I am excited about the possibilities of where it could go. What’s to become of the fairy tale world and Emma Swan? I will definitely be watching to find out. I highly recommend you check out the show as well.
