FALL PREVIEW: Running Wilde

September 21st, 2010

Running Wilde-1

Running Wilde is the latest offering from Mitch Hurwitz, the genius behind “Arrested Development.” Will Arnett is a star and Creator along with Jim Vallely who was a Co-Executive Producer on Arrested Development as well. Arnett stars as Steven Wilde, an incredibly wealthy man-child who sleeps around and doesn’t have to do much in terms of work. He has everything, except the childhood love of his life Emmy Kadubic (Kerri Russell). Emmy is living in the rainforest with her daughter Puddle (yes, that’s her name. She’s played by adorable Stefania Owen) and her boyfriend (David Cross, re-uniting with his former co-star). Emmy is a super liberal humanitarian who is trying to save the rainforest. David Cross’ character is equally as liberal and just a little bit crazy. Puddle is the voice of reason in this whole thing — she wants to move out of the rainforest and an invitation to a “humanitarian award ceremony” for Wilde is just the ticket.

FALL PREVIEW: Raising Hope

September 21st, 2010

Style: "BBS_BONES_MASTER_CURVE"

Raising Hope is a new FOX comedy about a fairly naive guy Jimmy (played by Lucas Neff) whose one night stand turns out to be a murderer who has a baby in jail and is sent to the electric chair. No seriously that’s what happens. So Jimmy and his rather white trash family (headlined by Martha Plimpton of The Goonies fame) are left to raise the baby. His family at first wants him to leave the baby at a fire station (is this a real thing people?!) but Jimmy doesn’t want to part with her. The family sees this baby as a chance for a new start. They will do things right this time. Thrown into the mix is a crazy grandma and a lot of naivete.

FALL PREVIEW: Lonestar

September 20th, 2010

Lonestar_Horiz_Group_V1F

Sometimes I lose faith in good dramas. I have been burned before by getting invested in a show that I love and then it goes off the handle. Or alternatively, it’s fantastic and it gets canceled. Life Unexpected restored my faith in the old school WB type dramas. And now, Lonestar has restored my faith in really great mystery-type dramas.

2010 FALL SEASON: What I’ll Be Watching/DVR-ing/On-Demand-ing and What To Skip

September 20th, 2010

810television

Throughout this week and next I will be posting a lot of advance reviews and fall previews. However, I realize I have not compiled a handy list for all to see. My one DVR (yes sadly, I only have one DVR) is already JAM PACKED, but I will also be relying on On Demand to watch some shows the day after. The pack of new shows is not quite as impressive as it was last season (um, hello Modern Family and Glee) but there are a few good ones that stand out. So, without further ado, here is what I am watching this fall! (And what you should probably skip out on…)

FALL PREVIEW: Mike & Molly

September 17th, 2010

MIKE & MOLLY

A lot of shows are premiering in the next few weeks, and I’m here to preview many of them for you. On Monday, a new offering from Chuck Lorre (Two and A Half Men and The Big Bang Theory) will premiere on CBS. Mike & Molly follows two people looking to lose weight. Mike Biggs is a police officer and Molly Flynn is a fourth grade teacher who meet at an Overeaters Anonymous group. Both Mike and Molly are charming and funny, and find love in a very unlikely place.

FALL PREVIEW: Nikita

September 9th, 2010

maggie-q-nikita-2

Nikita is a reboot of Luc Besson’s “La Femme Nikita,” but fans of the old should be pleased with the new. The CW has found itself a truly kick ass female lead in Maggie Q, who navigates the world of super secret spy assassin very well. The premise is this: Nikita was rescued from death row as a teenager by Division — a top secret U.S. Agency. They faked her execution and supposedly gave her a second chance. But really, she was being used in their game. She falls in love with a civilian who is murdered and realizes she must escape. In the pilot episode, she is back, seeking revenge and getting back on the Division’s radar after hiding away for so long.

FALL PREVIEW: Hellcats

September 8th, 2010

hellcat-saison1-poster-upfront

The fall season is just about upon us, and I could not be more excited. It’s going to hard to beat the new shows from last year, but there are definitely some good ones coming your way. Throughout the next few weeks, I will be posting a lot of fall previews of new shows you should check out (or maybe some worth skipping). It’s obvious by now that I love almost every show on the CW. I eat up The Vampire Diaries, I laugh and cry at Life Unexpected, I enjoy the ridiculous antics on Top Model and I transfer myself to the Upper East Side every week on Gossip Girl. Naturally, when I heard about the new offerings from the CW for the fall season, I was very excited.

ABC’s official upfront presentation isn’t for a few hours, but they have released their fall schedule ahead of time. I am pleased to see a bunch of new shows.
