INTERVIEW: Damian Lewis (Nick Brody) from Homeland

December 4th, 2011

damian-lewis

Homeland is one of those shows that feels more like a movie than a television show. Every hour is action-packed and full of twists and turns that you never saw coming. The show centers around CIA Agent Carrie Matheson and her quest to find a prisoner of war who has been turned and is now working for terrorist king pin Abu Nazir (knowledge she obtained from someone on death row). Carrie is convinced the newly turned prisoner of war is Sergeant Nicholas Brody, who has been tortured and near death before being found by Americans. The show takes us on a journey from thinking Brody works for Nazir to thinking he is far from a terrorist. Recent developments have shown the motivations behind Brody’s decisions to work for Nazir in some form or another. Things ramp up quite a bit in tonight’s episode and I can’t even wait to see more. I recently had the chance to chat with Damian Lewis, who plays Brody, about his character, Brody’s complicated relationship with Carrie and what’s coming up.

INTERVIEW: Raphael Sbarge (Jiminy Cricket/Archie Hopper) from Once Upon A Time

November 27th, 2011

When I watched the pilot for Once Upon A Time, I was instantly hooked. But I wasn’t sure how well a modern-day fairy tale would catch on. I was quickly proven wrong though, as the audience came out in full force and were won over by the show’s charm and great storytelling. I am so happy it caught on the way it has and I can’t wait to see what is to come of the curse, Henry, Emma and the great supporting cast of characters. Tonight’s episode of Once Upon A Time focuses on Jiminy Cricket, who is now Archie the therapist, in present day. I recently had the chance to chat with Raphael Sbarge, who plays Jiminy Cricket, and he had some great things to say about the episode, playing a fairy tale character and how the show has redefined a demographic.

INTERVIEW: Gabriel Mann (Nolan) from Revenge

November 23rd, 2011

GABRIEL MANN

I don’t think I can ever say enough good things about Revenge. The story of Emily Thorne/Amanda Clarke and her plot to take down the powerful people of the Hamptons who wronged her and her father is just so soapy and wonderful. Each week, I find myself legitimately craving more. Crucial parts of her plan have come to involve the help of Nolan Ross — the quirky, young billionaire, who knows Emily’s true identity — played by Gabriel Mann. I recently chatted with Mann about Nolan and his many relationships, Nolan’s backstory and just how crazy things are about to get on the show.It was seriously one of my favorite interviews to date, because there’s obviously so much more to Nolan that we haven’t even touched on yet.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Ashley Madekwe (Ashley) from Revenge

November 22nd, 2011

“Hi, I’m here for Revenge,” says Ashley Madekwe as she pulls into set. I couldn’t help but smile at this statement as she kindly asked me to hold on for a moment. Madekwe plays Ashley Davenport, the party planning assistant to Victoria Grayson (the Queen of the Hamptons). In real life, she runs a ridiculously awesome blog (I’m seriously jealous of the clothes she models) and has been on shows from The Beautiful Life to Secret Diary of A Call Girl. I absolutely adore Revenge so I was excited to chat with the one who is seemingly on the outside. Madekwe had a bit of a different take on it, though. We talked about what’s coming up on the show, her relationship with Tyler and what she would like to see from Ashley going forward.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz (Creators) from Once Upon A Time

November 13th, 2011

Once-Upon-a-Time2

Once Upon A Time was one of those pilots that I watched and I was immediately entranced by. It was different. It was something that I hadn’t seen before. It’s a modern-day fairy tale that focuses on Emma Swan who meets her son, Henry, who she gave up for adoption. Henry lives in Storybrooke, Maine, a town that he’s convinced has been cursed and that everyone living there is a fairy tale character, they just don’t know it. The show premiered to great success and has kept up its strong ratings ever since, and I’m so glad it has. I recently had the chance to chat with the show’s creators, Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz (both former “Lost” scribes) about the show, what fascinates them about fairy tales and even the similarities with Lost.

I absolutely adore everything about The Good Wife — from the tremendous acting to the amazing writing to all the characters with such great backstory and storylines. One of the greatest things about the show is that they bring on such amazing guest stars. Some become regulars (Alan Cumming) and some return for more in another season. Carrie Preston played Elsbeth Tascioni in season one and she is back recurring her role in tonight’s episode. I recently had the chance to chat with Carrie and we talked about what Elsbeth is up to this time around, season five of True Blood and some of her upcoming movie projects.

I sing the praises of The Good Wife every week, and it’s a show that continues to surprise me as it shatters the procedural mold. It’s full of wonderful twists and turns and phenomenal acting and writing. I also love that it tackles issues that are extremely relevant and topical. I recently had the chance to talk to Robert and Michelle King (creators of The Good Wife) at an event for Human Rights First, where they were receiving the Sydney Lumet Award to for the show’s coverage of various human rights issues. We talked about how human rights factors into the show, the balance between procedural and character and what’s coming up this season (including some exciting guest stars).

INTERVIEW: Christa B. Allen (Charlotte Grayson) from Revenge

November 2nd, 2011

Revenge is one of my absolute favorite shows and I can barely contain my excitement each week waiting for a new episode. For those who may not know (seriously, watch this show), Revenge centers around Emily Thorne (formerly Amanda Clark, played by the amazing Emily Van Camp), whose family has been wronged by certain elite members of a Hamptons community. She returns to the very community under a new name, to take down those who ruined her childhood and her family. However, not everything is as perfect as it seems in this well-off town. Recently, Victoria Grayson (the Queen Bee, played by Madeline Stowe) was exposed in one of Emily’s schemes for saying she wished her daughter Charlotte (played by the lovely Christa B. Allen) was never born. I recently had the chance to talk to Christa about Charlotte and Victoria, her budding relationship with Declan (the guy from the other side of town, played by Connor Paolo) and what we can expect from tonight’s new episode.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Josh Charles (Will Gardner) from The Good Wife

The Good Wife is one of my absolute favorite shows on television right now. I love the way they are able to shed the procedural mold and focus on the cases and the characters. I also think the show chooses cases that are interesting and culturally relevant. I recently had the chance to talk to Josh Charles (who plays the super great Will Gardner) at an event for Human Rights First, where he was presenting the Sydney Lumet Award to show creators Robert and Michelle King for the show’s coverage of various human rights issues. We talked about what it means to present the Lumet award, how human rights factors into The Good Wife, and of course, Will and Alicia (my favorite relationship on the show).

INTERVIEW: Sasha Pieterse (Alison DiLaurentis) from Pretty Little Liars

October 18th, 2011

Tomorrow night is the big prequel Halloween episode of Pretty Little Liars. I have been missing this show on my weekly TV lineup, so I am very excited it’s back. I will post an Advance Review tomorrow, but I will say that the episode is fantastic. I think Alison is such a critical part of the story and I have been wanting an entire prequel episode for a while. The Halloween episode delivers in a big way. It’s dramatic, scary and answers a lot of questions. I recently had the chance to talk to Sasha Pieterse (who plays Alison) about the episode, what we are going to learn about Ali that we didn’t know before, and that pesky A.
