REVIEW: The Vampire Diaries “The End of the Affair”

September 30th, 2011

The End of The Affair

E here for some more madness on The Vampire Diaries. This episode is entitled “The End of the Affair.” Well, that can’t be good news.

We start with Katherine calling Damon for a chat as he has his morning booze. There’s some banter, and we learn that she knows Klaus and Stefan are in Chicago.

We then visit the dynamic duo in Chicago (which is indeed one of Stefan’s old murder stomping grounds). Get ready for some flashbacks! We visit the 1920s because who doesn’t love to do the Charleston? All you need to know for the set-up here is that Stefan has ridiculous hair. And we see him killing a lady. Also, he visits a speakeasy where peeps seem to know him including the lounge singer. A vamp chick comes up to him and can still smell his recent kill on him. Sexy?

REVIEW: Happy Endings Returns Tonight & DVD Review

September 28th, 2011

ZACHARY KNIGHTON, ADAM PALLY, CASEY WILSON, ELIZA COUPE, DAMON WAYANS JR., ELISHA CUTHBERT

Everyone had sung the praises of Happy Endings when it premiered last year as a mid-season replacement. Friends of mine compared it to one of my favorite television shows of all time, “Friends.” I made a mental note, and decided to catch up in the off season. When I received the review DVD, I literally sat on my couch for almost a day and a half straight (let’s not take any time to judge this, shall we?) watching it. When it first started, I wasn’t sure how I felt. The show centers around a group of friends — two of whom did not get married (she left him at the altar) — and some who are roommates and their lives together. It stars Adam Pally, Damon Wayans Jr., Casey Wilson, Eliza Coupe, Elisha Cuthbert and Zachary Knighton. Only a few of those names really pop out at you, but the ensemble cast is great. My favorites are probably Adam Pally (who plays a very non-stereotypical gay character Max) and Damon Wayans Jr. (who plays the hilarious Brad). And I’m generally not a fan of Casey Wilson, but she grew on me and her character, Penny is (in her own words), am-ah-zing.

REVIEW: The Secret Circle “Bound”

September 23rd, 2011

THE-SECRET-CIRCLE-Bound-Episode-2-4-550x365

It’s only episode 2, but we’re diving right into a ton of mythology. We’ve got binding ceremonies, crystals, spell books, families, elders, past grudges…basically, everything required for a fun hour of witch drama.

As “Bound” begins, Cassie reads the final letter from her mother. Her mother’s sage words of advice? Destiny is not easy to run from. Cassie’s new to her powers, can’t control them, and doesn’t know whom to trust. The solution? Practice on a candle and then end up getting to see your hot neighbor, who also happens to have powers, shirtless in his bedroom window. Some girls have all the luck.

REVIEW: The Vampire Diaries “The Hybrid”

September 23rd, 2011

E here again for some more Vampire Diaries. This episode is entitled “The Hybrid.” I’m going to be honest, I wasn’t in love with this episode. I actually preferred the B and C plots more than Klaus trying to build his own weirdo army. And I do enjoy Klaus, I don’t know, I wasn’t digging it. But the whole thing is saved for me with the last 10 seconds of the episode, awesome.

REVIEW: Glee “The Purple Piano Project”

September 21st, 2011

GLEE-The-Purple-Piano-Project-Season-3-Premiere-3

Glee is back! And I am so so glad it is! The producers promised they would be getting back to basics and I think the premiere was a great showcase of that. I wasn’t crazy about the song choices in the premiere (which is a bit unusual for a review from me) but just having this cast back and singing instantly made me happy. Will and Emma are living together (!!), Vanessa Lengies is new-girl Sugar (she was hilarious and amazing) and a lot of the McKinley kids are gearing up for their senior year.

REVIEW: The Vampire Diaries “The Birthday”

September 16th, 2011

Tyler-and-Caroline

Hoo boy, it’s been a long summer without TV’s favorite vampires and vamp groupies, but we’re back with the season three premiere of The Vampire Diaries – “The Birthday.”

I’m just gonna say, the cold open was super creepy. Like, I was sitting on the edge of my seat, eyes wide open creepy. We start with some random slutty chick looking for her dog or some such when Klaus comes up to her (note: they are in the middle of nowhere) and asked to use her phone because he’s stranded and his cell is dead. She reluctantly agrees, but won’t invite him in. So, he goes all crazy vamp on her and compels her to get in the house. There’s also a roommate. He’s looking for a dude by the name of Ray Sutton who lives there on occasion. Oh, hey, Stefan is there too. Klaus makes him kill them while he waits in the car. Well, now, glad that’s not a bizarre thing to do.

My 10 Favorite/Shocking/Crazy moments from the Pretty Little Liars Mid-Season Finale

August 31st, 2011

PRETTY-LITTLE-LIARS-Over-My-Dead-Body-Season-2-Episode-12-4

Instead of writing a formal review of last night’s amazing mid-season finale of Pretty Little Liars, very aptly titled “Over My Dead Body,” I thought I’d write my favorite moments. But when I thought about it, I realized they aren’t just favorite moments but also shocking and crazy ones, too. Hope you enjoy! And weigh in with your favorite moments as well!

REVIEW: Pretty Little Liars “Touched By An ‘A’-ngel”

August 17th, 2011

PRETTY-LITTLE-LIARS-Touched-by-an-A-ngel-Season-2-Episode-10-2

Last night’s episode of Pretty Little Liars focused a lot on Alison but without any flashbacks. We learn that she hid a lot, we learn that Jason probably has more to hide, and that her murder was not a cut and dry case. We already knew that last part but it turns out Jason, Garrett and Ian were in some sort of crazy club in high school. What I really enjoyed in this episode was how strong the girls’ bond has become and a few key confrontations and decisions that were made. Now if only that A would make him or herself known.

Why You Should Be Watching MTV’S AWKWARD

August 16th, 2011

story-awkward-mtv-tv-show-2378

I love television. I watch a ton of it. I write about it. I can’t get enough of it. Of course, there are those shows that I just adore so much that I choose to review every week. And then there are those I want to enjoy without taking notes that I try to cover as much as I can. But only a few times have I watched a show and been compelled to write about it right away. Watching Awkward was one of those moments. I saw all the ads and put it on my to-do list to check out at some point, as I generally eat up the teen angst. It’s my thing. But this weekend, I finally played catch-up on the four episodes that aired and after each one, I needed more. I couldn’t even wait a minute to move on to the next episode.

REVIEW: Pretty Little Liars “Make It Stick”

August 10th, 2011

;

Last night’s episode of Pretty Little Liars was probably one of the most intense ones to date. Also, it was filled with A LOT of making out. Saying I loved it would be a vast understatement. Seriously, be still my “Ezria” loving heart. But I digress. “Make It Stick” featured some disturbing discoveries about Jason, some interesting/sexy dreams, relationship complications for Emily and some heartbreaking Hanna and Caleb moments. Oh and even though creepy Jenna was just in a couple of scenes, she was truly and awfully creepy.
