2010 FALL SEASON: What I’ll Be Watching/DVR-ing/On-Demand-ing and What To Skip

Throughout this week and next I will be posting a lot of advance reviews and fall previews. However, I realize I have not compiled a handy list for all to see. My one DVR (yes sadly, I only have one DVR) is already JAM PACKED, but I will also be relying on On Demand to watch some shows the day after. The pack of new shows is not quite as impressive as it was last season (um, hello Modern Family and Glee) but there are a few good ones that stand out. So, without further ado, here is what I am watching this fall! (And what you should probably skip out on…)

MONDAY:

8 PM: How I Met Your Mother
8 PM: Chuck (Premiere 9/20)
9 PM: Gossip Girl
9 PM: Lonestar (New FOX show about a very attractive con man. Premieres 9/20)

TUESDAY:

8 PM: Glee (Premiere 9/21)
8 PM: The Biggest Loser (Premiere 9/21)
9 PM: Life Unexpected
9 PM: Raising Hope (New FOX sitcom with Martha Plimpton, premieres 9/21.) — On Demand
9:30 PM: Running Wilde (New FOX sitcom with Keri Russell and Will Arnett, premieres 9/21) — On Demand
10 PM: Parenthood
10 PM: The Good Wife
10 PM: No Ordinary Family (Premiere 9/28) — On Demand

WEDNESDAY:

8 PM: Undercovers (Super sexy spy drama from JJ Abrams. Premieres 9/22)
8 PM: America’s Next Top Model (Don’t judge, it will be watched On Demand)
8:30 PM: Better With You (One of the few strong new sitcoms from one of the Executive Producers of Friends. Premieres 9/22)
9 PM: Modern Family
9 PM: Hellcats
9:30 PM: Cougartown
10 PM: Top Chef: Just Desserts (may or may not stick with this one)

THURSDAY:

8 PM: My Generation (New ABC drama, premieres 9/23)
8 PM: The Vampire Diaries
9 PM: The Office
9 PM: Nikita

Ed Note: Parks and Recreation is coming back mid-season and will definitely be on my schedule.

FRIDAY:

10 PM: Blue Bloods (New CBS drama about family members in the NYPD. Premieres 9/24)

WHAT TO SKIP:

-$*#$ My Dad Says: I’m sure you’ve all heard about the Twitter account by now of the same name. CBS adapted it into a sitcom with William Shatner, where he basically just rattles off a bunch of one-liners. It could be good if it wasn’t just Shatner doing that, but unfortunately it came up way short.

-Mike & Molly: I absolutely adore Melissa McCarthy from Gilmore Girls. I’m going to give this show several episodes to see if it improves but I’m sad that it’s just a show about overweight people and there’s not much more substance to it.

-The Event: Whoa whoa whoa, before you are all like REALLY SKIP THE EVENT? I will say this: I am not skipping it YET. I will be watching the first few episodes before determining if I want to skip it. The pilot was fairly strong, but the ending was confusing and I’ve been burned before with mysterious shows like this. See: Flash Forward. Unless I feel really invested in the characters by Episode 3, I don’t think I can stick with this show.

-Outlaw: This show already premiered last week on NBC. It stars Jimmy Smits as a Supreme Court Justice who leaves the court to go change the law, or the world I suppose. I really like Jimmy Smits. Law dramas are generally pretty decent, but this one just didn’t do it for me.

What shows are on your must watch list? Any shows I didn’t cover here that you have a question about? Don’t be shy, weigh in and ask away!

My absolute must watch list includes Chuck, The Vampire Diaries, Life Unexpected, and Glee. I’m excited about The Whole Truth, Outsourced, Hawaii Five-0, and Undercovers. I’m pretty sure my DVR line-up looks just as full as yours and there are definitely some shows that I’ll have to watch online! I love TV like it’s my job…well, maybe second to yourself and E that is =)
