The TV Chick

Arrow is my favorite new fall CW show, and to be honest, it’s probably my favorite new drama of the season. Based on the DC Comics character, The Green Arrow (but not connected to Smallville), Arrow is produced by Greg Berlanti (Everwood, Political Animals), Marc Guggenheim (Eli Stone) and Andrew Kreisberg (Fringe, The Vampire Diaries). Billionaire Oliver Queen was pronounced dead after a boating accident, but returns to his home five years later after being forced to fight for his life on an island. I’m not generally into superhero tales, but this one won me over very quickly. Not only do we get the pleasure of Stephen Amell’s abs for a good portion of the pilot episode (and I’m assuming we’ll see a lot more, as it is the CW) but the storytelling and the acting is fantastic. I have loved Katie Cassidy since her days on the underrated, short-lived remake of Melrose Place and I am thrilled she is back on TV. She plays Laurel Lance, a pro-bono lawyer who used to date Oliver. Her sister died in the aforementioned boating accident, and was also sleeping with Oliver. Let’s just say her feelings regarding Oliver’s return are fairly complicated. I recently had the chance to chat with the lovely Cassidy at Comic Con, who got choked up just talking about the show. She talked about Oliver and Laurel’s complicated relationship, that salmon ladder/ab scene and much more.

Arrow premieres tomorrow night at 8 PM on the CW.
