Yes but the other crew are on the island (pre or post bombed) and so he should be too right? Because he was time traveling with them!

I was just thinking…Faraday probably doesn’t exist in the alternate universe. I don’t think he was born yet, and his mother was on the bombed island.

You are right, I just think my head can’t wrap around 2 alternate universes. I’ll do my best though and just have faith that one will exist in the end.

Penny and Widmore is definitely a puzzle. We will see, I guess!

Who is to say that both can’t exist? Why can’t there just be two parallel universes? If time travel can exist, I’d have to think parallel universes can exist as well.

I have to assume they will tie them back together though, given that this is LOST and all.

I don’t think Widmore exists in this new world, because he would have died in the explosion. The real question for Desmond, I think, is what’s up with him and Penny? Does him and Penny happen with Widmore dying on the island?

And Faraday – he’s definitely going to play into the parallel. I hadn’t even though of him until you mentioned it. Oy.

Interesting theories!

Here’s my question about that–if these two alternate realities never cross paths, which one really exists? The plane crash never happened, they safely landed, yet they are still on the island?

The plane crash did happen, everything that happened actually did happen, and the bomb sinks the island, how are they still on the island?

And where does Widmore play into this whole world given that we didn’t see him at all. And regarding Desmond being on the plane: does he still know about the island? Is he traveling through time?

And where is Faraday in this whole equation! So many questions need answers!

I don’t think the alternate reality is fake…I think they have broken off into two parallel universes now. Here is how I perceive it:

The bomb does go off. The reason nobody dies is because the bomb going off sets off the electromagnetic pocket that sends them back to where they should be in time. But the bomb itself blows up/sinks the island.

The reason there can be two parallel universes going on now is because of “what happened, happened.” No matter what the survivors did, there is nothing they could do to change the fact that they did crash, and did live those 3 years since the crash, so their options with the bomb going off was to either die or return to where they are supposed to be in time. However, the island was in its own present at the time of the bomb going off. At that point in time, the next 30 years of island history had not taken place yet, so that could be changed. The bomb going off changed it, thus setting off the separate, actually existing parallel.

I don’t think the parallels can physically cross paths, but there can be feelings of deja vu for the safely-landed plane people, which is why Jack looked like he kind of recognized people, but didn’t know why.

Example: Recognizing Desmond, whom he shouldn’t recognize. The reason they met before the island previously was because Desmond was training for a race around the world – in this new parallel, they wouldn’t have met under that circumstance, because Widmore was on the island when the bomb went off.
