With the long-awaited return of John Blackwell, Secret Circle successfully builds on its momentum from last week! Every episode of this show contains about 50 minutes of boring, dialogue heavy scenes with 3-4 exciting, well-done scenes, and “Return” is no different.

Cassie’s Daddy Drama
John Blackwell is here! After months of build-up, Blackwell’s entrance was rather tame. The two shared a nice scene on the dock as Cassie finally let out all the resentment that’s been building since she discovered her father is alive. Additionally, the moment in the woods as Cassie asks him to help stop her from going through with the spell the evil witch hunter put her under.

Blackwell’s reformed man act was cute, but obviously not very convincing. Hopefully, Cassie’s badass, “I don’t need a man to save me,” persona extends all the way to her father because the dude is evil (Just look at the way Drunk Ethan behaved around him!). The Blackwell/Jake alliance should provide a lot of interesting material for future episodes! Or it could just end in having more people desperately beg Cassie for her love and attention.

Adam
How is Adam not gay? There are moments in this show when Adam speaks and I just want to shake my head and yell at my TV that Adam is clearly attracted to Jake. Do yourselves a favor and go re-watch Adam and the scooby gang save Jake from Evan. You’ll see it in a whole new light.

Lee is a Man Whore
Stealing a witch’s power so that he can use it to save his comatose girlfriend then making out with the witch while his girlfriend wakes up alone. The gentlemen on this show are so classy. That said, let’s forget this coma girl and have more scenarios that involve Faye and Lee making out.

Overall, another entertaining episode. Two weeks in a row! Secret Circle is on a roll!

Stray thoughts:
• Gale Harold looked very weird this week. Kind of like an alien.
• I miss Dawn, but the show works much better without the older generation’s squabbles taking up unnecessary screen time.
• Let’s all hope that Melissa is done with drugs. I think we can all agree that it was an awful story arc.
• Pretty sure the scene with the circle & Blackwell in the woods was the first time we’ve seen the entire circle together in quite a while. More please!
