Disturbing Behavior

E’s back again for some more Vampire Diaries with “Disturbing Behavior.” And boy howdy was there.

We start back in Chicago again with Klaus, Stefan, and Rebekah out for a Pretty Woman style shopping spree complete with champagne and Rebekah modeling her new duds for the boys. She complains about the skankitude level of woman’s cloths in the 21st century, and Klaus reminds her that she wore pants so modern ladies could wear skirts up to their pupik (in case you are not my Jewish grandmother reading this, pupik = bellybutton in Yiddish). Stefan looks outside the shop and Katherine is standing across the street and gives him this cool head nod to come over there that I couldn’t pull off in a thousand years.

In Mystic Falls, it’s already time for another Founder’s Day Party! Man, we have one of these like every weekend it seems. Damon is helping Elena prepare her chili to bring, and as always, you could cut the sexual tension with a knife. Only ridiculously attractive people can make chili cooking look good. Alaric is also there as the total third wheel, and there’s also some discussion about Elena still wearing her necklace.

Anyway, Stefan and Katherine have some back and forth of course. She wants to know the deal with the necklace. She figures Stefan has a plan to keep the necklace’s whereabouts from Klaus and Rebekah and also reminds him that Rebekah will ruin him.

Hey look, it’s Anna. She finally got through to Jeremy again. I miss these two. She was able to get through because he was dreaming about her. And Bonnie is back. Hugs and kisses for everyone. As Jeremy is hugging her, he sees Anna in the mirror. Buzzkill. Also, here is my mathematic equation for Jeremy’s girlfriends. Anna > Bonnie > Vicki. Vicki is simply the worst.

Across town, Mama Sheriff and Damon are wandering, and she tells Damon that her ex-husband is still locked-up and she needs his powers of compulsion so that he’ll forget this mess. And stop trying to clockwork orange their daughter. He goes and bites him to make sure the vervain is out of his system and then comments about the Daddy-Daughter Vampire Torture Thing, ha. He compels him, and we’re all set (or are we? dun dun dun).

Back in Chicago, Gloria, Rebekah, Klaus, and Stefan are chilling while Gloria tries to figure out the location of the necklace. While doing this, the necklace burns Elena’s skin and electrifies Bonnie when she tries to touch it. Gloria does however find it, but she needs some time to figure it all out.

Back in Mystic Falls, Bonnie has some sort of identification spell to figure out what sort of magic is floating around in the necklace. And Caroline wonders what Elena’s deal is re: Switching Salvatores (which is the name of my band, if I ever have a band). The necklace starts floating on its own, and Bonnie tells the gals that it has its own magic.

Damon and Alaric are chilling as they are oft to do, and Alaric tells Damon that he needs to ‘take a beat’ because him and Elena are a bad idea. Is this a phrase? I never heard it before, but Alaric is loving it. And while Gloria works her magic, Klaus and the Gang went out for a bite to eat. Also, Rebekah is a brat.

Back to Anna and Jeremy – for some reason – I am really enjoying this B plot. Anna wants to know why Jeremy hasn’t told Bonnie the deal yet. She also cautions him again about letting Vicki through to him because there is a darkness there. Also, poor Anna is all alone on the other side. Sadness. Jeremy can sort of feel her when they ‘touch hands.’

Stefan goes back to see Gloria who knows he has a secret because the girls she saw were talking about him. She wants the necklace for herself and uses some weird torture spell to get into his thoughts.

At the Founder’s Day Shindig, we have one of our Council Meetings. And now that one member’s son is a werewolf, one member’s daughter is a vampire, and one member IS a vampire, these meetings have turned pretty worthless. The Widow Lockwood locks it down pretty quick so everyone can go get their chili on. Bill then wanders in pondering whether the other members are clueless or stupid. Uh oh!

Back at the Gilbert residence, Jeremy is helping Bonnie with some magic. Apparently, the dead witches totally cut her off since she messed with the balance of nature. Nice work Bonnie. Anna suddenly pops up and warns him about the darkness when all of a sudden the magic books catch on fire.

Back in Chicago, Gloria figures out what Stefan is hiding re: Elena and the necklace. But, Katherine steps in and stabs her in the jugular. You know, say what you will about Katherine, but she comes in handy on occasion.

At the Founder’s Day party, we learn that Bill is indeed immune to compulsion because his jedi mind tricks are awesome. Damon, Elena, and Alaric are discussing this when Damon announces he’ll just kill him. The others are like, uhh, no. And then Damon snaps Alaric’s neck. Poor Alaric, for real!

So, Katherine has a plan for Stefan. He’s going to entice Rebekah to get this mess taken care of. He knows they’re scared of the vampire hunter, so that’s gonna be his power play. Katherine wants in and Stefan’s like uhh, no. (Lots of rejected ideas this episode).

Yay, Tyler and Caroline! Love these two for real so much. They talk about her feelings about seeing her dad there, and then they make-out. It’s real nice. But, Elena calls her to tell her that Damon wants to do some damage.

Bill and Damon have a little chat where Bill lets Damon know that he’s trained his mind to not be susceptible to compulsion and Damon sort of sucks at it anyway. Bill doesn’t think Damon will go for him, but Damon does of course. And then Caroline comes in and makes her dad drink her blood to heal him. He won’t do it at first, and she tells him to grow up, ha. And then there is this awesome fight scene with Caroline and Damon. After this fight is over, Elena and Damon argue about his bad behavior.

Jeremy also decides he has to tell Bonnie the deal and shuts Anna out in the process. This is a real bummer dudes; Anna has a sad moment because she’s all alone again.

So, Stefan gets his plan in motion and uses his wiles to get info from Rebekah about the person who was looking for them. She won’t tell him anything, and then they make-out. Right away, Rebekah can sense that Stefan is not on their side. Also, Michael is the name of the dude looking for them. Klaus is like, dude, we were bros.

Alaric is mad at Damon for killing him and will not accept his offer of booze filled lemonade (which for some reason sounds good to me as I write this at 5am).

Caroline wants Elena to admit that she’s attracted to Damon, but she can’t. Caroline then sees her dad as they are walking. He thanks her for rescuing him, and she tells him that she’s going to be okay. He says, “You’re a vampire sweetheart; I don’t think you’ll ever be okay again.” (And then my heart weeps for them because I get where they’re both coming from).

So, Alaric schedules a last minute meeting with Mama Sheriff and the Widow Lockwood because he wants on the council to protect the actual people (he’ll take the Gilbert spot as he’s ‘caring’ for them). He basically thinks this duo is doing a lousy job with their supernatural children and all.

Elena then meets Bonnie downtown where she asks for her necklace back because she doesn’t like being away from it. And then Bonnie tells Elena about Jeremy and the dead vamps. And then Elena suddenly disappears. Uh oh, turns out that it was actually Katherine. And now she has the necklace. She then goes to Damon, and these two decide to get out of town together. We end with Klaus bringing Stefan back to Mystic Falls because he’s got to be hiding something good there.

This was another solid episode. I’m loving the Anna stuff because I think she’s swell. I could live without Damon going off the rails because we’ve seen that before. And the Klaus storyline is getting really good. I’m glad that we didn’t settle on Klaus just building his army. I can’t wait to find out the deal with Michael the Vampire Hunter. And I’m pumped about seeing Klaus seeing Elena. Solid season so far!

The Vampire Diaries airs Thursday nights at 8 PM on the CW.

  • I’m glad someone else was unaware of the phrase “take a beat” because I just thought I was out of the loop like I was with “totes” and “obvs” and whatever the kids are saying these days ;-)

Tyler and Caroline 4 eva =)
