REVIEW: The Vampire Diaries “Into the Wild”

February 8th, 2013 by

Yo peeps, ‘Into the Wild’ is our most recent episode of TVD. And I think it was good, really good.

The majority of this episode is sort of like a vampire-esque LOST situation. Meaning, they’re on an island. And peeps need to learn to live together or they’ll die alone. Heavy. So, the Professor is leading the gang to where the cure/Silas is. The gang includes Damon, Stefan, Rebekah, Elena, Bonnie, and Jeremy. Rebekah sees a use for everyone except for Elena…Damon’s use is his nice behind obvs. We finally also find out the heart of the Professor’s story. He apparently went on a quest for this place last year where he saw his dead witch wife (who died when she was trying to bring their son back to life) in the Silas well area. She’s the one who gave him all the info he needed for this raising Silas business. He really didn’t want to do it because of all the bloodshed and all, but she used her dead lady wiles and convinced him.

Back in current day, there’s lots of bickering between Rebekah and Elena. Also, there’s tons of debate over who will and will not take the cure (and why). In my opinion, everyone here wants to except for Damon. Elena is sad in her sad place that he doesn’t want to be human with her. Oh, also Rebekah saves Elena’s life from a deadly booby trap. Anyway, the Professor is being shady and Damon figures out he needs more bloodshed for this all to work. He ends up taking that tombstone thing and booking it to see this weird dude that had been assisting him. He’s got Jer Bear there and Bonnie. They are understandably pissed. Damon seems to have peaced out, but he runs into another hunter (this excited me greatly for some reason). So, Elena, Rebekah, and Stefan are trying to figure out how to get out of this situation where they’re pretty screwed.

Back in Mystic Falls, Tyler is watching Klaus in his box without walls. With Klaus in witch jail, Ty’s got some brass balls. Unfortunately, Caroline comes by and sasses Klaus a bit too much. He pulls her in and bites her. She’s dying of course, but she finally appeals to the teeny bit of humanity in him and he saves her (also, he still wants to hit that). [Ed. Note: I thought Joseph Morgan truly owned this episode and especially the last scene with Caroline.]

Guys, I was almost swayed over to the Professor for a moment. What is wrong with me?! (His name is Atticus, that’s what did it). But, I came through, don’t worry. I still hate this dude as much as I love Rebekah. Someone just needs to love this poor girl. Also, I’m super curious to learn about this new hunter (who’s side is he on?). And I can’t wait to see how all this Silas business goes down fo sho.

The Vampire Diaries airs Thursday nights at 8 PM on the CW.
