FROM THE SET: VIDEO INTERVIEW: Ashley Benson (Hanna) from Pretty Little Liars

The mid-season finale of Pretty Little Liars is going to put each girl to a specific task. My guess is that life and death is in their hands seeing as the therapist was kidnapped last week. In the midst of this whole mess, Hanna’s dad is getting married and she has to deal with the wrath of Kate (and her conniving ways). How is Hanna going to come to terms with her evil stepsister and her dad’s marriage? I recently caught up with the cast of Pretty Little Liars on set, and Ashley Benson (Hanna) talked about tomorrow’s big episode, Hanna/Caleb and where Lucas factors in and the wedding coming up.

REVIEW: Pretty Little Liars “Touched By An ‘A’-ngel”

August 17th, 2011

PRETTY-LITTLE-LIARS-Touched-by-an-A-ngel-Season-2-Episode-10-2

Last night’s episode of Pretty Little Liars focused a lot on Alison but without any flashbacks. We learn that she hid a lot, we learn that Jason probably has more to hide, and that her murder was not a cut and dry case. We already knew that last part but it turns out Jason, Garrett and Ian were in some sort of crazy club in high school. What I really enjoyed in this episode was how strong the girls’ bond has become and a few key confrontations and decisions that were made. Now if only that A would make him or herself known.

REVIEW: Pretty Little Liars “Save The Date”

August 3rd, 2011

PRETTY-LITTLE-LIARS-Save-The-Date-12

Last night’s episode of Pretty Little Liars “Save the Date” was quite intense. The girls took a trip to the morgue to try and figure out Ali’s death, Em has quite a physical/health set back and we learn more about shady Garrett and creepy Jenna and what they might be hiding. And I forgot to mention that “Ezria” fans like me were a tad disappointed by this episode, and especially by the preview for the next episode, but I have faith that they will be together in the end. This episode felt to me like people were trying to get closure — Hanna’s parents for sure (more on that later) and the girls about Ali’s death. But one thing is for sure, this season is certainly ramping up to something big.

REVIEW: Pretty Little Liars “Surface Tension”

July 27th, 2011

PRETTY-LITTLE-LIARS-Never-Letting-Go-Season-2-Episode-7-5

Last night’s episode of Pretty Little Liars “Surface Tension” may have given us a clue into who murdered Ali. Or it may be a dead end. There was also a lot of making out, a potential injury and a dinner party that can only be described as awkward. And that’s a vast understatement. We also sort of find out what’s going on with Mike Montgomery, although there is definitely more to it than we know. And did I mention Aria, Ezra, Jason and the Montgomery’s in one room? Yeah, that happened.

REVIEW: Pretty Little Liars “Never Letting Go”

July 20th, 2011

PRETTY-LITTLE-LIARS-Never-Letting-Go-Season-2-Episode-6-7

Last night’s Pretty Little Liars “Never Letting Go” centered around relationships — parental relationships, the girls’ relationships and significant others/possible significant others. Jason DiLaurentis also takes on an even bigger (sadly non-shirtless) role. I thought the episode set up some very interesting things for the future. Are the girls able to let go of Ali? Clearly, not quite yet.

REVIEW: Pretty Little Liars “The Devil You Know”

July 13th, 2011

PRETTY-LITTLE-LIARS-The-Devil-You-Know-Season-2-Episode-5

Last night’s episode of Pretty Little Liars, cleverly titled “The Devil You Know,” focused a lot on A. After this episode, there are many more questions than answers, and some people emerged as a bit shady and mysterious. Aria seems to have a slightly wandering eye, her brother is into some bad stuff (not drugs though, as I suspected) and Spencer’s mom FINALLY realizes what a total awful parent she’s been all this time. It was an intense episode. I really enjoyed the way the last scene played out (and how creepy it was!) and it was another episode that was beautifully shot with a scene reminiscent of the opening credits. And one of my favorite couples reunited!

REVIEW: Pretty Little Liars “Blind Dates”

July 6th, 2011

PRETTY-LITTLE-LIARS-Blind-Dates-Season-2-Episode-4-7

Last night’s episode of Pretty Little Liars titled “Blind Dates,” had some huge, crazy intense moments, a new love interest (maybe) for Aria, and well, someone dies. Spoiler alert! But in Rosewood, we never know if someone is truly dead. We assume Alison is because they found her remains but then who is torturing the girls? Of course, A strikes again in a big way in “Blind Dates,” while one girl has a major breakthrough. I loved the intensity level of this episode. It was drama in its finest form. I also always love when there’s a creepy woods scene and there was a great one in last night’s episode.

REVIEW: Pretty Little Liars “My Name Is Trouble”

June 29th, 2011

PRETTY-LITTLE-LIARS-My-Name-Is-Trouble-Season-2-Episode-3-14

Last night’s episode of Pretty Little Liars, aptly named “My Name is Trouble,” showcased the girl’s deviant ways, A’s torturous ways (is this a surprise anymore?), and creepy, creepy Jenna. I know I don’t often comment about the way a show was shot, but because of my field of work, I have an eye for that kind of thing. “My Name Is Trouble” was shot beautifully. There was a specific candle scene that I will talk about later that was just amazing. I love it when an episode is so visually stimulating (and yes this includes shirtless Toby and sexy Jason DiLaurentis along with the actual camera shots!).

REVIEW: Pretty Little Liars “The Goodbye Look”

June 22nd, 2011

PRETTY-LITTLE-LIARS-The-Goodbye-Look-Season-2-Episode-2-10

Last night’s episode of “Pretty Little Liars,” called “The Goodbye Look,” was heartbreaking, heart-wrenching, and had all the makings of the hit drama I know and love. There were major developments for Aria and Ezra that I will talk about later. I know she is supposed to get another love interest, so I fear that this might be the end for a bit, but there was a rather amazing make-out session that would say otherwise. Who knows? This episode also focused a lot on a new guy back in town, Jason DiLaurentis. Ali’s brother did appear last season, but he has been re-cast. The character is back and creepier than ever. The episode also gives a lot of clues into Ali’s life and disappearance and who A might be.

Five Things To Know About the Season 2 Premiere of Pretty Little Liars “It’s Alive”

June 14th, 2011

The Pretty Little Liars

I will be reviewing Pretty Little Liars all season, so instead of a simple Advance Review of tonight’s premiere, I thought I’d do something a little different and give you five little tid-bits about tonight’s premiere. They aren’t super-spoilery so I hope you enjoy!

  1. The girls go to therapy. I know a lot of you have probably seen the promo photos with the girls in a therapy session. What the picture doesn’t tell you is that the girls consider telling the therapist about A. I won’t tell you if they do or don’t but it is an amazing edge-of-your-seat type moment.
  2. Shirtless Ezra. I almost put this as my #1 but I decided to be slightly more classy. Yes, ladies (and gentlemen), Ezra is shirtless in the premiere. Enjoy!
  3. The parents get involved. Up until now, we’ve definitely seen the parents take a relatively active role in the girls’ lives but in the premiere, they are going to lay down the law. They don’t think the girls are good for each other. It will be interesting to see the girls find ways around the fact that their parents don’t think they should see each other.
  4. A is back, bitches. And she/he is more creepy and crazy than ever.
  5. Spencer and Toby. There is a really great moment with them in the premiere. They will be turning to each other for the support they need and aren’t getting from their families. I really love this couple and I’m excited to see how their relationship unfolds this season.

Be sure to tune in tonight at 8 pm to ABC Family for the season two premiere of Pretty Little Liars “It’s Alive.”
