VIDEO INTERVIEW: Julie Plec (Executive Producer) from The Vampire Diaries

Tonight’s the night! The Vampire Diaries is back! This season is going to be an interesting one. Elena is going to become a vampire, the love triangle will continue (even though she chose Stefan, she’s going to be remembering things!) and what’s going to happen with Klaus now that his doppelganger has turned? Some of the best interviews I’ve done are with show runners — they know all the good stuff, and what they are allowed to spoil. Julie Plec is one of my favorites (both as a person and as an EP) and when I got to chat with her at Comic Con, she spoke about each character’s journey in season four, the decision to turn Elena at the end of season three, and the love triangle that is the “island of [their] Lost.”

On Saturday, March 10th PaleyFest hosted The Vampire Diaries for the second time in 3 years. Creator Julie Plec along with Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley, Matt Davis, Kat Graham, and Candice Accola took to the stage to talk about the March 15th episode, “1912” and tease a few spoilers for the rest of season three.

Here are my picks for the 10 top moments from the panel (which was hilarious and you should all check it out when it pops up on Hulu in a few days):

VIDEO INTERVIEW: Julie Plec (Executive Producer) from The Vampire Diaries

September 14th, 2011

TVD

Only ONE more day until the season premiere of The Vampire Diaries. I cannot even contain my excitement. Last season, we left on a major cliffhanger with Stefan going all dark and joining Klaus, Jenna dying, Klaus “killing” Elijah, and that doesn’t even scratch the surface. It is one of the best hours of television these days and I am beyond excited for tomorrow night. I recently had the chance to chat with Julie Plec, Executive Producer of the show, about what to expect this season, the decision to kill of one of the only humans left in Mystic Falls and a lot more. Check out the video interview below!

FROM THE SET: EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Sara Canning (Jenna) from The Vampire Diaries

January 28th, 2011

The Vampire Diaries returned last night and I am so glad it’s back. One of the things I love so much about this show is that despite the fact that there is a big cast, each person serves a purpose. Whether that purpose is to be unaware of their surroundings (poor Matt and Aunt Jenna!), save the day and protect the town (hello, Salvatore brothers) or form dangerous bonds (Caroline and Tyler). It’s a big cast so not everyone gets in on the action all the time, but I enjoy it when they do. One of the craziest moments on the show so far (and there have been a lot) was when Katherine compelled Aunt Jenna to stab herself. Katherine made it clear that no one is safe from her wrath, and it really upped the stakes (no pun intended). When I sat down with Sara Canning (who plays Jenna) on the set of the show, she had a lot to say about the purpose Jenna serves in this crazy town of Mystic Falls, Jenna’s “parental” role, and her relationship with Alaric.

FROM THE SET: INTERVIEW: Julie Plec (Creator/Executive Producer) of The Vampire Diaries

January 27th, 2011

Tonight’s the night! The Vampire Diaries is back on television and I’m ridiculously excited for it. From the promos, “The Descent” looks like there will be some vampire/werewolf clashes and I can’t wait. When I visited the set in Atlanta, I was thrilled to be able to catch up with the lovely Julie Plec, one of the executive producers of the show. If there’s anyone that knows about navigating the twists and turns every week in Mystic Falls, it’s her. Julie talked about the ever expanding mythology of the show, the role reversal between Damon and Stefan, Klaus, future flashbacks and so much more. She even told us that there will be a game-changer moment this season.

INTERVIEW: Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson (Executive Producers) of The Vampire Diaries

It’s clearly The Vampire Diaries week here at The TV Chick. I have sung the show’s praises time and time again, and I stand by my assertion that it’s one of the best shows out there. Week after week, there are these amazing moments where I am left with my mouth agape at the screen. These magical twists are all the work of the brilliant executive producers Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson. They are not afraid to kill off characters, turn others into vampires and werewolves, and even introduce a doppelganger. I recently had the chance to chat with both of them at New York Comic Con. They gave a big teaser about the flashback episodes coming up, talked about the decision to turn Caroline into a vampire, and Katherine’s master plan.

INTERVIEW: Steven R. McQueen (Jeremy) from The Vampire Diaries

I absolutely adore The Vampire Diaries. One thing I love is that despite having a big cast, the creative team finds ways to utilize every character in really fascinating ways. Some characters are oblivious to the goings on in Mystic Falls (Jenna), some are finding out more and more (Jeremy) and there’s even a newly turned vampire (Caroline). The show is off to an amazing start to the second season. I recently had the chance to chat with the cast and executive producers at New York Comic Con. Steven R. McQueen talked about what’s coming up for Jeremy in the next few episodes, if there will be a Jeremy/Katherine interaction and a possible love interest.

INTERVIEW: Katerina Graham (Bonnie) from The Vampire Diaries

October 19th, 2010

The Vampire Diaries is off to an amazing start to its second season. Any concerns (not from this TV Chick) of a sophomore season slump have been wiped away. There are crazy doppelganger hijinx, proving that Nina Dobrev really can do no wrong, and of course some incredibly sexy vampires and werewolves (I’m looking at you Uncle Mason!) One of the characters that has really come into her own this season is Bonnie. Her witch powers are developing and she isn’t afraid to take on the vampires to protect her loved ones. I recently had the chance to chat with Katerina Graham at New York Comic Con, and she talked about Bonnie’s powers, her motivations and maybe even a possible love interest.

The Vampire Diaries returns tonight! The sizzling, action-packed, full of crazy twists second season premiere will leave you gasping at your television. Or at the very least, it left me doing that. I could not be happier that this show is back. I love being transported week after week into the mysterious Mystic Falls, and let’s be honest, the Salvatore Brothers are quite eye-pleasing. I recently had the chance to catch up with the cast and producers of the show. Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson, the absolutely brilliant (and super sweet) Executive Producers had a lot to say about the upcoming season, werewolves and flashback episodes.
