REVIEW: The Vampire Diaries “We All Go A Little Mad Sometimes”

November 16th, 2012

tvd

Hey people, TVD is new again with “We All Go A Little Mad Sometimes.” With the holidays fast approaching, I get it. (Ba dun bing). Okay, we’re not talking about this opening anymore. It keeps changing every week, and I’ll just have to accept it even though it’s weird to me.

REVIEW: The Vampire Diaries “The Killer”

November 9th, 2012

The Killer

Hey peeps, we’re back with some more TVD. This episode is called “The Killer,” and there most be some serious killing going on because pretty much everyone on this show is a killer. (Spoiler Alert: yep, serious killing). Okay guys, the opening changed again. This is just getting weird.

We start where we left off – with Connor and the Professor. Connor killed Nate and took his head to get the venom from his gums (blech). The Professor wants Connor to keep Bonnie out of harm’s way. Connor doesn’t care about all of that mess obvs. (I have no idea what the Professor’s deal is, but I’m sure it will be awesome and connect with everything soon enough).

REVIEW: The Vampire Diaries “The Five”

November 2nd, 2012

The Five

Tonight’s Vampire Diaries is titled “The Five,” which is legit because I want to know the deal with that mess is. And we do find out, huzzah! First things first, we keep adding to the opening. (And I’m like what up peeps? This is going to be like 30 minutes long by the time we reach the series finale).

The episode then begins with 5 beefy dudes in a circle who probably all tried out for the role of Thor (better luck next time guys!) There’s a witch doing some witch stuff in the center and the tattoos start to form on their body. Also, mah boys got swords. This was a flashback obvs.

REVIEW: The Vampire Diaries “The Rager”

window

E back again with The Vampire Diaries and “The Rager” (which incidentally is the name of my band; We’re playing in your mom’s basement next Friday).

Okay, so the opening is sort of the same, but sort of changed every week. Strange. But I’ll buy it.

We then open with Tyler at the hospital. Connor stops by for a bedside vigil, and by bedside vigil, I mean he temporarily paralyzes him and extracts venom from his gums. Conor then goes back to his winnebago so he can do some science and look over his files – including Jeremy’s and Elena’s folders.

Sarah’s Snap Shots: We’ll Miss You Crystal Edition

October 22nd, 2012

Nashville.2012.S01E02.HDTV.x26-2

I have written a Haiku to express my grief over Crystal’s unemployment. RIP Animal Practice. (Not really, it was terrible.)

Crystal is a genius/
Someone hire her quickly/
Annie’s Boobs returns?

But seriously, not only does Crystal have to deal with her show being cancelled but she also has to watch a competitor do a guest spot on 30 Rock. Tough week. Also, are tiny monkeys on TV shows a thing we’re doing now? How many other shows this season are planning monkey cameos?! Let’s hire Crystal for all of them. She’s very versatile.

If you watched this week’s Vampire Diaries and haven’t already downloaded “Ungodly Hour” by The Fray, then you’ve just wasted the last few days of your life. Consider this my Public Service Announcement on the matter. Download. Listen. Repeat. You’re welcome. [Ed. Note: "Ungodly Hour" is known to reduce one to tears. Especially when a certain vampire is mourning a certain other person. You have been warned.]

There really aren’t words to adequately describe how much I love Suburgatory. This picture of the Shay family dressed as cats for a town talent show really sums up genius of Emily Kapnek. From Tessa’s mom issues to the Medium fan club performance to the Lisa/Sheila showdown, this premiere was everything I hoped it would be and more.  Additionally, let’s be thankful that Alicia Silverstone is gone and we’re basically pretending that Eden didn’t happen. I’ll leave you with this quote: “Who will put you to sleep at night? Who will make you taquitos post-pi-la-tes? Who will tell me to stop shaking you when I shake you? Because you know I’m inclined to shake you, girl!”

Connie Britton is an amazing actress and we all know that, but it’s important to take a moment to recognize how flawless her hair is. Lately, Connie’s hair has been reaching Stana Katic levels of perfection. Someone even wrote a whole article dedicated to it. It also has it’s own Tumblr page.

REVIEW: The Vampire Diaries “Memorial”

October 19th, 2012

Memorial

October is awesome because there is so much Vampire Diaries to be had, whee! This week’s episode is ‘Memorial.’ First things first, the new opening is here to stay. With added bonus material this week!

We begin with Elena and Stefan in the woods getting ready to do some hunting. This scene is crosscut with Damon and Stefan arguing about Stefan’s plan to get her on the straight and narrow right off the bat by eating only animals. He’s hoping she can avoid a bender this way whereas Damon is like, vamps eat people – this is one of your dumber plans. We cut back to Stefan and Elena in the woods – things are about to get hot. Everything is now heightened for Elena – we’re hearing heartbeats and everything. But, then she goes and barfs some blood. Ruh roh.

INTERVIEW: Nina Dobrev (Elena) from The Vampire Diaries

October 18th, 2012

nina

The Vampire Diaries is back tonight for the second episode of the season, and it is fantastic. Damon’s super sad about losing his bff Alaric, and Elena has some trouble with her transition. We also meet Pastor Young’s daughter, played by Grace Phipps (from Nine Lives of Chloe King) and Connor, the vampire hunter continues to wreak havoc on Mystic Falls. I recently had the chance to catch up with Nina Dobrev at Comic Con, who talked about the excitement and challenges of playing a new vampire and what kind of vampire she sees Elena becoming.

Sarah’s Snap Shots: Claire Danes For All The Emmys Edition

October 16th, 2012

iiStephenAmell_Arrow_s1e01_Pilot_20121010_007

CLAIRE DANES FOR ALL OF THE EMMYS. Yes, I realize the Internet gave all the Emmys to Monica Potter a few weeks ago for that episode where she finds out she has cancer. But dammit, Claire Danes deserves all of the Emmys too. Seriously though, we’re only 3 episodes into the new season of Homeland and Claire Danes has already earned her inevitable 2013 Emmy. I don’t think I’ve ever been so simultaneously heartbroken and happy for a TV character the way I was for Carrie at the end of this week’s episode when Saul showed her Brody’s video. I get emotional just thinking about it. Every single episode of S2 has knocked it out of the park, and there are no signs of that changing. I would watch a new episode of this show every day of the week if I could…IS IT SUNDAY YET?!

REVIEW: The Vampire Diaries “Growing Pains”

October 12th, 2012

TVDGP1

HEY PARTY PEOPLE. I am shouting at you…because it’s time for season 4 of The Vampire Diaries. Woo hoo, pound it out.

We start ‘Growing Pains’ with some sort of a new opening? Maybe? I don’t know. But I like it. Elena says, “I’m human, at least I was.” Oh nos.

Elena is now waking up with some heightened senses. She’s all confused, but learns that Matt is fine, phew. (Hatas gonna hate, but I’ve got some Matt love.) Damon and Stefan are catching her up on what’s she’s missed. She doesn’t want to be a vamp. They’ve got a few hours for Bonnie to come up with a solution as Bonnie’s level on the Badassity Meter is rising.

Five Things To Know About The Vampire Diaries Season 4

October 11th, 2012

Growing Pains

I have seen the first two episodes of The Vampire Diaries and they are fantastic. We have a new vampire hunter in town (Connor) who is most definitely going to wreak havoc on Mystic Falls, and a new Mystic Falls temporary resident, April Young (the Pastor’s daughter, played by Nine Lives of Chloe King star Grace Phipps). Season four is going to have a lot of adjustment. Elena has to transition to become a vampire and once she becomes one, how will her life change? I have been given very explicit directions as to what I can’t spoil for everyone (and no one wants to be spoiled on this fantastic show), so here are five things to know about season four that contain only very minor spoilers.
