As the year comes to a close, I thought it would be a nice time to highlight what I have loved on TV this year. Because this year encapsulates more than a season of TV (and because I watch a ton of TV) there’s a lot that I loved this year. There are a couple of new shows, some old favorites, and some that may not be around anymore (or may not be on for much of 2011). Feel free to weigh in with your choices, and let me know if you think I left any off my list! This list is in no particular order.

INTERVIEW: Sarah Wayne Callies (Lori Grimes) from The Walking Dead

November 14th, 2010

The Walking Dead has only aired two episodes on AMC and it’s already been picked up for a second season. I think I was right when I said the network had another hit on their hands. The zombie apocalypse drama based on the graphic novels stars Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes, a guy who gets shot one day and wakes up in the middle of an apocalypse days later. He goes on a quest to find his family, and any possible survivors of the human variety. Meanwhile, outside of Atlanta, there’s a camp of survivors trying to stay alive. Their paths will mostly likely intersect in this week’s episode, and while Rick might find his family, it probably won’t be all he hoped for. His wife, Lori, (played by Sarah Wayne Callies) has been cheating on him with his former partner and best friend Shane (played by Jon Bernthal). In her defense, she thought Rick was dead, but my guess is that their reunion isn’t going to be the happiest of ones. I have to say that I am not usually into this type of show that forces you to suspend disbelief a little bit, but I have really loved The Walking Dead so far. I recently had the chance to chat with Sarah Wayne Callies, who talked about why you shouldn’t be too quick to judge Lori (and some not so pleasant words aimed towards her at Comic Con), working with Frank Darabont, and why this is the best project she’s ever been a part of.

ADVANCE REVIEW: The Walking Dead

October 31st, 2010

Andrew-Lincoln-The-Walking-Dead

AMC has a handful of innovative programming, and on this Halloween night they offer up The Walking Dead. The Walking Dead is based on the graphic novels by Robert Kirkman of the same name, and they follow the protagonist Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln) after he wakes up (alive) in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. Now you might be saying to yourself “Really? That sounds more like a movie,” and you’d be right. Sparing no minute details, the creative team behind The Walking Dead (in addition to Kirkman) is Frank Darabont, the guy responsible for “The Shawshank Redemption” and Gale Ann Hurd, the woman responsible for “Terminator.” Together they have put together a show that is truly unique. And it even feels like you are watching an hour long movie.

The TV Chick Goes to Comic Con

July 20th, 2010

First of all, I wanted to say, it’s been a little over a year since I started this site and I have met some of the most wonderful people. I am so thankful for all the readers out there who have made it so worthwhile. I have spoken to some amazing people, had some amazing opportunities, and I can’t wait to see where it goes next. Tomorrow, I leave for Comic Con in San Diego. Despite it’s monicker, Comic Con is actually a huge arts and entertainment convention. There are many great TV panels (my schedule is packed), so I wanted to give you an idea of what panels and press rooms I will be attending. If you have questions for the cast or producers of these shows, you can leave me a comment, email, or reply on twitter.

* Panels marked with an asterisk are ones where I will also be doing press interviews

  • White Collar *
  • Dexter *
  • True Blood
  • Glee *
  • V *
  • The Cape *
  • The Vampire Diaries *
  • Chuck *
  • The Big Bang Theory
  • The Walking Dead

I can’t wait!
